The Best Diet For Getting Back In Shape FASTER (Nutrition Science Explained) sport: Thanks a ton for this and the get back program! I was hitting some of my best RPs before Covid hit. Didnt do anything at home to maintain. Now excited to get back. I gained about 5lbs over the 3 months, but can tell it was muscle loss fat gain. Today was 1st day back in gym and it felt amazing! Definitely lost cardio, but all the things i loved about lifting came back!

Science here or there. Maybe this 'fast' approach isn't the best idea. It's been a tough time for everyone and we can grow with that experience. Ask yourself How long do I want to look good for and does it matter if I achieve my goal in a month or a year?
I feel like going the fast route is just unnecessary pressure for most people. If you think back to the time you were new to the gym you're going to realize that you wanted fast results. But these days we know better. We know that building a physique takes time and effort. Wouldn't you tell your former self to be patient.
I guess it's a philosophical thing, but isn't it better to slowly go back to normal and learn from our experiences with an open mind and think of these trying times as part of our journey and not just as another obstacle on our way too success.
Those are just my thoughts and opinions on this topic.

What about the ones who lost muscle and lost fat as they were in a caloric deficit?
Cause you know you're already losing muscle no matter how much you optimize your diet. if there's no stimulus then there's no muscle gain.
So what about the ones who decided to be in a caloric deficit with no training?
Losing a little more muscle in order to lose a lot of fat seems like a good trade off to me.
That's what I've done and I lost a lot of muscle but I also lost a lot of fat
This way once the gyms are open I can focus only on building muscle.

Basic stuff. Muscle is insulin sensitive. Your bod needs insulin to eat.
So what happens when your body has alot of insulin to use and you feed it? You lose weight quick. Why do you think you see bodybuilders eating thousands of calories a day.
Basic stuff but no one says it.

Does anyone know if Jeff has a video on alternative lifts for primary lifts, i. e. Bench and squat? My gyms usually pretty packed and I can't always get an opening to hop on the bench or squat rack so I usually substitute it with machine presses but it just doesn't give you the same pump

My experience was muscle and fat loss. I was already in a a deficit and working on cutting fat prior to being out of the gym. I made the mistake of keeping a similar calorie intake while out of the gym. I lost somewhere between 10-15 pounds but I'm starting to slowly bounce back.

I think we have a few more weeks until time open here in the Bay Area(alameda county. I was literally half way thru you re full body program when the quarantine started. I just been focused on calisthenics. Pull-ups specifically were a weak point for me.

I actually gained muscle and got even more shredded at the same body weight during those 3months. I was training like a madman and keeping good diet.
The only thing I lost is strenght in my legs in leg dependent coumponds

Holy crap Jeff. im a 140lb female hovering around 27% bf. 140x16= 2240 calories! I assume this needs to be DRASTICALLY cut down for women. Ill never lose weight eating that much! I can assume 1600 calories of clean macros, max
