Jeff i just have a few big questions and concerns with the extreme arch provided by you in this video as well throughout most of powerlifting bench competitions. It seems that so much stress is being put on your lower back and low-mid spine with this setup. For newer gym goers it would seem to me that if they didn't have enough lower back or core strength that this setup could potentially be too harmful if they don't know their strength limit yet and over strain themselves while trying to lift heaver weights than they possibly should ( as most people do when first starting a lift and testing what your working sets are) once again this is merely my speculation of this position and i don't know any of the ergonomic science behind it. I've been lifting for about 8 years myself since my 10th grade year in highschool and although i do use a very slight arch myself it is nothing comparable to the one in your video or ones that i see throughout powerlifting competitions. And also does an arch superficially increase your bench press in the same way that elbow wraps or a chest sleeve would do? Or does it truly recruit more muscle throughout the lift leading to overall chest gains seen on and off the bench press with that technique. Would love your feedback on this question so that i can perhaps try it myself and know all will be well.

Everytime around this guy has good content. but speaking on the techniques. shortening your R. o. m. will lead to far less gains in the muscle groups your targeting & less growth. for instance if your bench pressing & your arms dont almost lock out you wont feel that intense burn thats were the whole of your tricep is fully engaged. shortening your range of motion & arching your back is to the lessen the impact of the weight & jus ego lifting for numbers. then people complain how there muscles wont grow. because there form is off. you cant cheat you have do things the hard way in life trust me.

don't execute the bench press like him if you are not training for some powerlifting contest. this execution is wrong on different levels, they do this just because of the rules of the contest so they tend to do everything to bench more weight. in his position your back gonna get hurt in few years, you put too much press on your shoulders, so good luck with your body and maybe you won't get an hernia until 40.

Awesome video and very detailed as well here on youtube. I'm practically still beginner and fairly weak to say the least. because of this I injured my right shoulder last week unfortunately. I'm definitely going to rewatch this video multiple times considering that I fall in every common error that people make described at the end of the video. Hopefully I can improve my form in the upcoming weeks.

I really need advice with my barbell benchpress. Short: lagging far behind db incline. Even though i prioritize bb flat, i can barely press 100. After like 55 i start db incline and i can do 840 in proper form. I do not improve in bb but still in db. Which exercises to do to close this gap?

Thank you. Ive been trying to fix my bench and I was wondering what exactly my issue was. My form was just bad. I was just kinda laying down and lifting the weight. Ive decided to drop by bench by 50 Lbs in order to correct my form and work my way back up doing it properly

Im 17 years old, 61 at 170 pounds but I can only bench press 150. Ive been working out for a while now and everything else in terms of my lifting weight has gone up a lot except my bench press. Could it possibly be because I have an extremely long wing span (79 inches?

hello Jeff, i love ur vedio. but i have a question: About bp setup, before u lift ur feet upon the bench why u move ur body forward and head over the bar? whats the principle behind this? and how to mesure what position should be when you move forward. thx

What if your only option for benching is a Smith machine? How do account for the wrist being straight since you have to rotate the bar to unrack and rack? Also not being able to bring the bar forward since its locked into the track?
