There are 5 steps to reach your goals in swimming. if you are up for the challenge, here is a 5 step action plan to help you reach them. First, grab a piece of paper or an app on your phone where you write notes and answer these questions. 1- What is your swimming goal? In swimming it is easy to be specific. Just pick a distance and a time, or a swim meet you want to qualify for or a long distance. For example. I want to do a 100 backstroke under 1: 15 or I want to swim across theEnglish Channel 2- Time frame. Define the due date for your goal. This could be a swim meet or a reasonable date that will give you time to prepare. 3- Why do you want to reach that goal? When times get rough and you want to give up, you will need a reason that trumps will power. Power of will doesnt last very long. When you dont want to wake up in the morning or drive to the pool or to the ocean, you will come up with creative excuses on why it is better to skip todays practice. This is why you need a strong reason to keep going and pushing your limits. Example. I want to go to the olympics to inspire younger swimmers to represent our country and set an example that you can achieve amazing things if you set your mind to it. Or I want to do a 100 freestyle under a minute so I know I am improving and I can motivate myself to stay active and healthy so I can enjoy life more fully. 4- Now that you have a goal, a time frame and a reason to reach that goal, you need a plan. It is best if you work backwards from your goal. Talk to your coach or set time apart for yourself to plan the subgoals you will need to achieve before reaching your ultimate goal. For example, If you want to swim a 100 freestyle under: 50 seconds, four months before the due date you will need to go at least: 50 in the 100 freestyle. 2 months before that at least: 51. The closer you are to your goal the harder it gets to drop time, so take that into account, dont be discouraged and keep fighting. 5- The last step is to stop watching this video and start swimming. If you dont go often to the pool, schedule it to your daily or weekly routine. The most important part at the beginning is to be consistent. Then once you form a habit you can start worrying about being efficient and effective. If you already have the habit of swimming, form a habit of writing down a small skill that you will improve on everyday that will get you closer to your goal. For example, I will work on my flexibility today. If you want to download a PDF check list of these steps with more examples and information go to the link in the description. PDF Since we started this channel our main goal has been to help at least a million people swim faster and reach their swimming goals. The time frame was 7 years. It has been two years and we just reached one of our sub-goals which is 100 thousand subscribers on this channel! We have more sub-goals that we would like to reach and we would like your input. 1- We want to launch at least two swimming workout programs a year. So what would you like the workout to be focused on? How much distance per workout would be ideal for you? How many workouts should it include? 2- We would also like to do a swimming camp. Would you like to meet us in person and get face to face coaching from us? Where do you think we should do it? What age group should it be offered to? 3- We are going to start designing swim caps inspired by countries and cultures. What country would you like us to do next? We appreciate any answers to these questions on the comment section. For more information

IM workout plans of maybe 2km or 3km split into 2 sections for morning and afternoon sessions.
More importantly I would love some more gym workouts specifically designed for swimmers.
Depending on how much work and time youre able to put in to these - plans lasting a year would be amazing. Even if you release a month at a time for example. Longer term ones are handy because you can stick to them until you really achieve your dreams.
For the camps, if you can go internationally Id have to go for my home country - Ireland. The National Aquatic Centre is a great place for that kind of stuff.
I think the camps should be for 18-28ish year olds since theyre the ages where you can become really competitive. Not to rule out other ages, just these seem to be the most competitive.
Id also love an Irish style hat and also a German/Bavarian style one.

I'm really loving your videos, thank you. The Stop! Collaborate and listen was a great little reference that made me laugh. I am new to swimming and want to get a waterfront lifeguarding certification so I can take the kids I work with out paddleboarding and other water activities. They need nature! I can do one lap without stopping, and need to do 10. Must. Build. Endurance! I got this! Thank you again for all your videos!

I go to swimming lessons 4 times a week, i think i love swimming. i dont know how far I can improve, but I try to swim 5 days a week and I also try to improve in flexibility. My long-term goal is to have a good technique, be efficient, be a good swimmer in general.

Long distance, about the 1. 5K race. I was going to say which country to come to, but the county that I am currently living in now is not very appropriate. So it is up to you to chose an appropriate country to set the meet. Good luck and thank you for acknowledging my comment. I really enjoy your videos!

I would love to attend a swimming camp with coach (not to go through some drills but to improve technique. I would suggest in south western Ontario. Age group to be older than 14 years old as it is to work on technique and endurance. I would love a swim cap representing Canada!

my problem is shame being almost 40year old guy and being scared of depth.
it looks silly but I feel bad on swimming pool with all these people who can swim and looking at me.
any advice? maybe is too late for it?

I think it would be nice for you to meet face to face with adult swimmers and also provide them with free coaching. I also think that you guys should visit North Carolina because there aren't very many pools down here

Workout for IM, so it should have at least 20? 2. 5k to 3k is fine. No matter where is the camp, I wish it can have some days for adults only who might start late but are passionate to swimming as well.

as a masters swimmer
a) backstroke-focused sets, including dryland
b) short-course 25m leading towards 200m
c) as many as needed, starting w/ ones that develop from 1: 50/50m down to: 35: 40/50m
