The worst thing to do when climbing into your sleeping bag for the night is to wear any of the clothing you plan to wear out in the cold the next day. It becomes saturated with your sweat and will make you so much colder. In scouts I had clothing that was mostly wool that was only to be used once to sleep in. I would then change into dry clothing. changing like that seems counterintuitive because you feel colder at first but youll be able to warm that set way faster than anything you slept in.

Mt. Adams was always one of my favorites because of it's remoteness. Many camp trips up there to Council Lake and Takhlakh Lake. Backpacked up that beast back in 2009. Great smoothie place at the fork in the road on the way up there next to the gas station. So glad I randomly found your videos being the mountain climbing/hiking addiction I have. Love the song at the end while you are skiing down, very early 80's Rush like.

If you guys are going to go out together on the regular, maybe it's time to reel in the homophobia a bit a buy yourselves a two (or three) man tent. Camping in two one man tents means your surface area: volume ratio with respect to the elements is way higher, which translates into way more heat loss, and colder nights.
Also, one tent means less weight, and we all know why that's valuable.

Worst thing you can do is sleep in your sleeping bag fully clothed.
If you can, sleep nude or in your underwear.
Keep your clothes at your feet inside the sleeping bag, dress up while in the sleeping bag when you wake up and you'll not be freezing as bad as you get up(from experience sleeping with no heat at -30)

Adams is the first mountain I ever summited and also the first skimo trip I ever went on. It is absolutely one of my favorites in the northwest. The sun rise might be the best in the northwest. And if you ever climb it again, the Southwest Chutes are so awesome! By far my favorite spring objective.

Adams is a fun climb. I like that it's a bit more dry than a lot of mountains in the chain. On a very clear day, whish is pretty common in summer, you can see all the way from the Three sisters in Oregon to Mount Baker. If you are from the area or know it, you know that's a hell of a view.

These guys look comfortable using skis to climb, but wouldn't it be easier with snow shoes? Great video and awesome views! That Red Bull at the top wouldn't have been satisfying though. I'd require a nice cold Holy Mountain or Great Notions brew.

Love the videos and the series! Could you do a preparations video showing how a location/time is decided and the routes are planned? Are these planned weeks ahead or is it spontaneous based on where the weather/snow conditions currently are optimal?

I first watched this video 2 years ago after my own Adams climb in later June. I can concur though that you experienced better conditions than I did lol. My camera and phone batteries froze at the summit. Absolutely stunning climb thought

Turned on the video expecting Mt Adams in New Hampshire lol! Very cool and more challenging though. I did a winter climb in the White Mountains in high school in 1967. No skiing, just snow shoes and crampons.

I have done Adams a few times. It is always the best ski of the year. Took my daughter up last time. Perfect corn on the way down. It was May 30th weekend, when I usually do it. Best ski there is.
