Putting Liverpool third in the list looks frankly absurd. It should not be in the Top Ten at all. It is much less attractive than every other venue in this list. Most visitors, unless absolute Beatles fanatics, are going to be very disappointed at what is a shabby, declining, workaday city. The other nine places are all beautiful and well worth seeing. Instead of grimy Liverpool a visit to the beautiful, affluent city of Chester with its Roman walls, Norman cathedral and easy lifestyle and shopping some 25 miles south of Liverpool would be a much better bet. I agree with the comment below that such blessed places as Keswick, Grasmere and Ambleside in the Lake District should be in anyone's Top Ten.

At first when I moved to England, I knew nothing about it other than London being the capital city and a tourist attraction until my husband took me to beautiful cities like Bath Cambridge, Stratford-upon-Avon where Shakespeare lived and smaller cities like Winchester and Salisbury, which I absolutely love. Pretty villages like Castle Combe, Bibury and La Cock (parton me if I mispelled it )where Harry Potter and probably many other films were shot. Been living here for almost 3 years now and I love it more than my own.

5: 29 I live very close to the Cotswolds and so I have been there lots. I can not say this any better than, IT IS AMAZING! Honestly it is so beautiful. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. If you are travelling to England, you have to there. It is a great area, and all the people are so nice! Also a cool little thing is that in the town, there is a building which you can go through. In it is a smaller version of the town. It is so cool! This should definitely be on your list!

You don't even need a passport just jump on a dinghy in France, you will be collected half way across, given free accommodation, money, food and clothing, feeling unwell just visit your local hospital, you might have to wait 14 hours to be seen but it's all free, also be careful walking the streets of London that you don't get stabbed, otherwise you'll be in a long queue again to be seen by doctors, hopefully you don't bleed out before being seen. We await your arrival.

There is so much to see in England. Stratford upon Avon, Bath and Oxford are in the Cotswolds so do them all. If you do York have a look at the Dales, Wolds, York countryside and Yorkshire Industrial past. Theres the Pennines especially the Peak District that has some very dramatic scenery. If you do Hadrians Wall take a look at the very less populated Northumbria and its quiet beaches, its industrial past and Newcastle. Englands labyrinth of canals have beautiful scenery.

Must have been said before The tower you show is Elizabeth Tower. Big Ben is the name of one of the bells in it.
The Beatles never played in the Cavern Club you show. That was closed down became a carpark and then demolished. The new version was built on the same sit but at a 90 degree angle to the origanal. Though in 1999 former Beatle Paul McCartney played the New Cavern Club.

For those using this as a tourist bucket list forget Liverpool, white cliffs of Dover and Brighton as being in the top 10, nothing wrong with them, just not top10. Put Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare country) in there, Jurassic coast area in Dorset (Dorset is also full of villages with thatched cottages) and the Yorkshire Dales, simply a beautiful National Park.

This is simply a disappointing list of cliche tourist locations where American's usually think they need to visit. So many more beautiful places such as Devon, Cornwall, Lake District, Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire Moors/Coast, North Norfolk or Northumbria. Liverpool, dear me.

Totally missed the winner of the best village in England, Bamborough (castle/farne islands/holy island) in an area of over 1k castles and monuments (as you state, Hadrians wall. Not to mention in the area, the best 'kippers' in the world ( Craster) favoured by the Queen Mother!

Hilarious! Most place names mis-pronounced and a lot of facts left out, as well as other famous places such as the Yorkshire Dales, The Lake District and The Peak District, The New Forest, and Cornwall, to name a few more! But that's no surprise as an American made it!

The UK is the template as to how to destroy a country. Live there to understand how nasty it is. Ugly towns and over reach by every aspect of authority. Its a totalitarian dystopian state. Thats the inconvenient truth.

A really lovely and underrated county is Shropshire. If visitors want to see unspoilt England, you could do a lot worse. Ludlow would be a good base, lots of great pubs, with good rooms.

Did you you ever see that Monty Python sketch where there was a competition to summarise Proust in under 10 seconds? I now know where the Pythons got their inspiration from.
