As someone who is really into history, and also love the promise of the ideals of our country, I really have always enjoyed D. C. a lot. Ive been there about 5 times over the years, and will be back again this fall. Ive done a tour of the White House in 2015. I think its definitely worth doing at least once. You just have to plan ahead, writing your congressman for the tickets, and then expecting going through a LOT of security. I thought it was pretty cool though, how thru had dogs behind a wall you walked by where you couldnt see them, with a fan that blew your scent to them to detect threats like gunpowder or other things. I still always love the Lincoln Memorial. Its simple in some ways, but grand and powerful. And as one of my two very favorite presidents, and someone who fought for equality, it has special meaning for me. As the museums go? Its endless. One of the most powerful is the Holocaust museum. And I can imagine the Museum of African American History is too, which I plan to visit this fall, having just missed its opening by months in fall of 2015.

I have been to the White House 3 times. 1 time during Carter Administration, During 2 times during GW Bush Administration. Since 9/11 security has been stringent. - yes you must contact your representative or senator. One of their aids will take you. DO IT. Interestingly, the Secret Service serves as the docents in each room and has vast knowledge. Didn't know they were secret service until I toured during Christmas and going from room to room was very slow. Christmas was breathtaking but harder to get tickets. I do not believe they will allow you to take video and no even sure about pictures -- however - it is well worth requesting a ticket.
I am very disappointed that you didn't even mention the American Indian Museum or the African American Museums.
I do notice I think you miss a lot of opportunities on your videos because you either leave too early or get somewhere too late. Most museums in DC close at 5: 00 just FYI.

Thanks for the tour! In 1968 on my 21st birthday my husband and I walked up the stairs in the Washington Monument. There was a cage type elevator and people could see the dedication stones, but we got to see them up close. Unfortunately, we had no camera with us on this adventure and we were totally exhausted by the time we got to the top.
A lot of history has happened between then and now and no one is allowed on the stairs anymore.
My husband was in the army and we lived in Arlington so we did have time to explore the Capital which was my childhood dream.
Thanks again and what a beautiful sunset!

This was interesting to see as a local, and I learned a couple things too. Since you visited Ben's Chili Bowl, I just wanted to mention that the reason it's such a landmark is because it's the only surviving business of its era. U street used to be a hugely important cultural neighborhood (nicknamed Black Broadway) but most of the surrounding establishments were destroyed in the riots and violence following MLK's assassination. Ben's couldn't have endured as a business if they didn't also serve good food, but its historical significance goes well beyond that.

Boy you guys really got lucky with the crowds it is usually way more busy than that especially in the summertime. I was fortunate enough to get into a White House Tour back in October and it was fairly uneventful didn't really get to see much but what you do get to see is nice. And also the Metro there is just a fantastic thing to use to get around I love that City I've been there about five times now and can't wait to go back. Would actually consider living in the area also.

Been to the whitehouse several times growing up in Maryland many years ago. Its not that impressive. Mainly standing walking. U see a couple of rooms but nothing like when i was a child. The washington monument was cool. As a kid we could walk up the stairs. They dont allow it anymore. I would love to go again. Fords theater is just awesome. Ive heard the fbi used to have a great tour for kids especially but last i heard those were stopped after 9 11.

Another great overview of a great location. Thanks for these insightful videos.
AS a teacher and as a veteran, I firmly believe every American should visit DC. I have been 5 times and have still NOT seen it all. At the top of my yet to see list are the National Gallery, so thanks for wetting my appetite, and the new WWI Memorial. And I am also adding a food stop for a little chili!

Riding the DC circulator bus is a great way to save time and money when touring DC monuments and museums. For longer trips, the Washington metro is a great time and money saver. Uber and cabs frequently get stuck in DC's notorious traffic. Whatever you do in DC, don't try to drive around the city. Traffic moves like turtles and parking costs a fortune If you can find it at all.

Great video. I visited there in summer of '16. There is so much to see but I think you did an excellent job of pointing out the hi-lights. Your narration voice is very well done on all your videos. Kudos to you! Love ALL your trips, as I know I will not be visiting these places again, but at least I can do it with YOU one more time! Thank you for what you do! Most appreciated!

I love visiting D. C. I live about 60 miles away so I get to go there often. The Air and Space Museum is my favorite Smithsonian museum. Such a shame it was closed. I could spend weeks just walking the mall and visiting the sites and museums. A great place to visit is the National Archives. Thanks for showcasing Washington DC. a truly American treasure.

Did you take several baths after being in one of the most evil vile hell run cities in America? I went there when I was very young and I will never go back to that hell hole ever again until all of the Satanist and Globalist have been removed. Its a modern day Sodom and Gomarah and I hope it will be removed the same way very soon!

Matthew 6: 26 - Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Psalms 37: 25 - I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Good job, very nice choices for a full day. I have traveled all over the US and in my opinion there isn't another region of the country that has as much diverse free activities for everyone. I have lived in the DC area for over 60 years and never have I been stymied at doing something new and different.

The national Christmas tree died last year and was replaced after the first of the year. Impressive that they were able to plant such a large one. I've always wanted to visit DC but I follow a vlogger around who shows all the monuments as well as the chaos and noise, protests and constant motorcades!

Hard to do Washington DC in one day, there is so much to see. It's worth getting tickets to go inside the White House.
I've seen a lot of the Smithsonian museums.
The Holocaust museum is exceptional.
Must see Arlington cemetery too.

putting your feel in a memorial that has water is most highly disrespectful. I don't give a darn what anyone gives as an excuse. It is NOT a pool. it is Part of the memorial! If it meant anything to you, YOU would understand! Yea, it matters!
