I stayed at The Grand at Moon Palace in 2017. It was great, but there was something missing. Its really hard to explain what exactly it was. But when I stayed at Hotel Marina El Cid in 2013 and 2014, I had the time of my life. Perhaps it was the extreme size of this place, and therefore the insane number of people (however it didnt feel that way. Ill explain that later. The buildings were very grand, but it felt fake in some way. think of it like a facade. A gigantic and remarkable building, but sort of empty inside. There were a gigantic patch of concrete in the middle of the resort which I think they may have done shows or something at, but it felt very empty. When walking throughout this resort, it seemed very empty. It was a strange feeling. I think it was just the extreme size of it all. Just a sea of hotel buildings going on and on and on. Felt like a small city. Some of the worst parts about the stay were 1. The terrible sales pitch at the beginning which left a sour taste in our mouths and 2. The fact that the incredible waterpark, which was advertised as open and operational on their website, and which was the main reason we stayed there in the first place, was actually closed and not even close to being ready. Extremely disappointing. I sure hope this place has gotten better in the time since we stayed there.

As a single man and traveling alone and staying at an all inclusive resort. My question is: What if during your travels, you meet a young lady locally. What would it cost to invite her to stay with you for the rest of your stay? Or, even a day or two? Is it frowned upon?

Most all inclusive resorts in Mexico have low quality foods. I guess it's to appease America's, but for the price these places are charging, not to mention food cost are dirt cheap in Mexico they should be serving cusine, not fast food.

Going to an all inclusive in June, and fully plan on tipping even though gratuities are included. Going with repeat visitors, and I'm assured $1-2 here and there will go a long way. To me, it's cheap insurance for better service.

The hotel employee was offended by you offering an extra tip? Come on this cant be more far from the truth.
Your comment is misleading, resort and hotel employees are grateful to get extra tips, this is their livelihood.

Great point about dress codes at restaurants. I was with a friend who was wearing a short sleeve button down and golf shorts but was told he had to go put on nicer footwear as he was wearing flip-flops

The all inclusive Omni Cancun is spectacular! Its a family oriented resort, but fun for all ages. The food and the service is the best weve ever had. So much so, that we became Omni VIP members!

I hope that I can travel next year. I am not going anywhere during Covid, I am not interested in Cancun. I want to go to Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta or Acapulco.
