I have a friend in Contagem who wants me to visit with my wife and 5 yr old. I plan to go to Rio and hope to go visit Contagem, but have heard it is a bit dangerous. Is there any truth to this? Thanks anyone who has input! All opinions re welcome!

Try to visit in June, July or August! Its winter in Brazil and the skies will be clear blue, it will be a little cold specially at night time and its when most of the festivals happen! You will be able to take great pictures!
