Read the Blog for More: Travel Packing Hacks & Tips: Traveling can be fun, but it can be a pain if your luggage gets lost. Here are five things that you should never pack in your checked luggage. Always put these in your carryon. 1. Electronics - phones, laptops, cameras, lithium batteries. 2. Prescription Medicines - also keep in their original containers 3. Travel Documents - passports, tickets, hotel reservations 4. Car Keys & House Keys - you will need to get to your car and get into your house when you get home, so make sure you keep track of them. 5. Valuables - Jewelry, money, etc. Always keep that with you

LUGGAGE TIP:
Tie two or three colored ribbons of different lengths around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is not their luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it.
Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, at the turnstile.
Use 3/4 or 1 wide ribbons about 12-14 long. Cut the ends at 45 degrees then seal the end with one drop of Super Glue to prevent fraying. If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/2 or so, they will all show no matter what. Tie the 3 ribbons as if it were one ribbon using a mans half Windsor knot for the best look.
After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 5-6 from the handle. A longer ribbon shows up better. You can see it from 40 feet away.
Perhaps tie two handles, top and side of case.
Put your phone number on one ribbon using a permanent Sharpie.
Example: Contact 454-333-7878
Choose one ribbon with an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique.
Lay all 3 ribbons on top of one another. Then tie them with a half Windsor knot, same as a man uses.
Stand by the output hole of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing the piece.
Tie your skiies, duffel bag, and what ever with matching ribbonseven your computer case.
If you are a Travel Agent, you could gold stamp one ribbon with your name and phone number. Then send a set of ribbons, red and blue and black to your customer as a gift. Record this gift in your database so you dont duplicate yourself. Buy a gold hot embossing machine. Gold emboss your business name on the black ribbon. Put the customers name on it.

As a traveling hunter I have experienced some really annoying things, like when I went to Britain to hunt.
The international carrier said that the gun should be checked as luggage except for the rifle bolt, that should be a carry on item.
This is makes perfect sense to me, since the vital part, i. e. the rifle bolt, makes the weapon unusable without it. It is just a heavy stick.
But then when landing in Heathrow to change flight the staff told me to pack the bolt, since that was a weapon to them, together with the rifle, thus making it complete and deadly.
The idiocy displayed here is beyond words and the hassle to repack this stuff was totally unnecessary!

If travelling to a not so whealthy country; don't wear expensive jewelry because it is just not polite to show of your whealth; personaly I only wear cheap jewelry while travelling. so I don't have to worry about them anyway, and you can still look like a million bucks with fake ones as well if you need to.

Most of those are common sense. I know they many people put their laptops or notebooks in the checked luggage though. In that case I would recommend to at least keep the batteries separate.

Also, make sure your liquids and gels( fragrance, Vaseline, toothpaste, etc) is 3. 4oz or less, so you can put them in your carry-on. Anything more, and you will have to check it in.

Always, always, always get a drs note if travelling with stuff for a medical condition! And have it on hand, especially if you carry needles, as they won't be allowed on a flight without a note
