The over-emphasis of soccer in everyday life and the wages the players are paid. Indian food is strangely popular in England, though I was surprised that the most popular dish was actually created in Birmingham (by Bangladeshi immigrants) and adapted to English palates. Sub style sandwiches are much less popular. It seems rare that a cake, pie or crumble for dessert would be served with ice cream, more likely custard. Every cafe puts out a Full English, but they're basically always the same across the country with some flank gammon bacon and Lincolnshire sausage. The baked beans maybe have less sugar or flavour or are more watery. Coffee is more likely Italian-style (Starbucks) rather than French-style drip (known as a filter coffee) and tea seems to be declining in popularity, but is still widely available. Hard water in the south was surprising and I had been warned that pubs served 'warm beer', but that is completely inaccurate. British beer variety is easily one of the best in the world (none of this Rheinheitsgebot restrictive nonsense. English wines are surprisingly good due to climate change and also how rarely it rains in London (if it does, it's only for a few hours as it's a flat city, but the unique weather description of white cloud, which can last for days on end.

Still feel offended by the lady at the car rent office in Newcastle ruining our visit to the UK by looking down on us acting very annoying. Guess some ppl simply hate families on a trip. We gave the car even a good wash and clean before turning it in because we drove it through the rainy Scottish countryside. the only UK person we met that was unfriendly/toxic during our visit. can I use your phone please for calling a taxi to picking us up please? No you have to leave the office NOW. But we have all the luggage and it's raining cat and dogs. I don't care. But the little girl will be soaked. She will not be melting. now exit please you are making to much noise. Well love that friendly customers service. the car should be waiting outside the ferries. no had to take a taxi downtown Newcastle to pick it up. all the other rent a car competitors had phones on the ferries and cars waiting for their customers. They promised us a similar service. NOT! It was a big mess and fail Never ever going to rent a car from them (major car rental company) They never replied on our complaints. horrible service.

Foreigners who visit england have no idea about what is english. People of irish descent call themselves irish because they are racist, along with every other ethnic group. It doesn't matter where your ancestors originate, everyone who is of foreign descent refuses to call themselves english. If you meet someone who appears to be english and is rude, they are probably a foreigner. Being born in england doesn't make you english. People from other countries don't realise how much all the foreigners who are born here hate us. They all gang up on us and call us racist every chance they get, but never stand up for our country. People I have met from america, canada, new zealand and malta are normally very nice people, but the foreigners from other countries that live here are ignorant and racist. We would prefer you foreigners to go back to your own countries, as you have no respect for our country.

What did shock me about England is at 4: 46 in the video and guy walking behind you with a suit on, on the beach. HAHAHA Question is the beer cold in the pubs or is it served room temperature? I have one more question. I have been wanting to take my wife to England/Scotland for the past 20 years but having kids growing up has put that to the side. I am wanting to go there in the next 3-5 years and could you 1. Give me a ballpark price on flight and hotel/food etc. (I know it depends on where you stay and what you eat) and 2. How long does it take to drive to Scotland compared to taking the train. Love your videos. They are so informative and helpful.

Going to London and thinking you have seen England is like going to Brooklyn NY for 2 weeks and thinking you have seen the USA.
I don't rate London at all. It's busy, it's dirty, there's a lot of crime and it's overpriced. Aside from the usual tourist attractions it is just like any other big city anywhere in the world.
York is a nicer city. Or if you like rural places and seaside, I recommend you head to Devon. Or the White Cliffs of Dover are worth a visit.

just to add to the point at 7: 43 the only police who carry guns are armed police and they are pretty rare. You will see them sometimes walking around in pairs but their main job is on callout. The regular police carry tasers as people here don't carry guns. Also if you see/hear and ambulance/police car behind you with lights on always move to the other lane or let people push Infront of you

When I took my family on a trip visiting England Scotland and Ireland we were treated so well and made to feel so welcome it made me so embarrassed being American and needing direction on many things that most people already know. To all the people who made our trip so enjoyable I really want to thank you and let you know you have left an lasting impression on our lives.

Visiting the great houses is an activity which itself has strong socio-cultural connotations. The sticker that you put in your car windscreen to show that you are a National Trust member so you can get free parking is itself considered a status symbol.

I visited Orlando, a cop pulled my cab over and told the cabbie there was a diversion ahead, the cabbie asked me why I looked surprised, I said I d never seen a cop with a gun before he said That wasn't a gun AND HE PULLED THR BIGGEST PUMP GUN I EVER SAW FROM UNDER HIS SEAT and said That's a gun!

One thing that shocked me on my first visit to London was the beautiful summer weather. I was there in late May, and got a sunburn from riding on the upper deck of a tour bus. Why would you need sunscreen in England in May, right? Who would bring that? Well, me, from now on.
