Thing is, in Europe, we don't respect money as much as you do in USA, we tend to put more respect on people, which is than not a one-way relationship anymore and a major cultural difference - no judgement there. That explains the bad service you are indeed very likely to get in average restaurants and mass shopping places. Where you will get tremendous service from tho, is specialized or niche stores, or some restaurants where people are truly proud of their craft (so it's not always relative to price. The amount of good service you're gonna get depends on the passion of the supplier and the overall response it gets from the public. As I said, it's a two-way relationship, difficult to understand from a US perspective I know, but I also struggled to understand the opposite during my trips to the US (I was very often silently begging people to leave me alone with their advice or extra coffee.

Coming from luxembourg ( yeah a real luxembourgish guy: P, i have to say that our service in shops and restaurants isn't rude. It's just that we dont have the fake smiles, pleasanteries and waitresses who fake that they adore you because in our country they are not dependent on the tips like in the usa.
For me, shops in france are way more rude
Rest of the video is pretty acurate
Also to mention, we have real national dishes but you have to know where to get them as most of the restaurants dont serve them as they are focused on another type. Italian, chinese, japanese, . Often some luxembourgish national dishes are served in restaurants with french cuisine or italian cuisine and you have to look them up on the menu cause they are hidden and you have to know it is a luxembourgish dish (as you could think it would be a french dish)

It's funny that the French find the service bad, considering 95+% of the people working in those jobs (Waiters, shopkeepers, cashiers and the like) in Luxembourg are actually French. and since many of those waiters and cashiers seem to only speak French, they may get frustrated quickly if someone asks them something and doesn't speak French.
One thing to consider however is that for a Luxembourger, is that for shopping or dinner, they generally don't want to be disturbed and rather left alone by the staff unless they have a question. So having some salesperson or waiter constantly buggering you with their support is considered very aggravating in Luxembourg. This may come off as rude for people from countries which have a different mentality, but that is just a culture shock, not actual rudeness.

If you want to talk to some authentic Luxembourgish people go more to the north; even the 'non-Luxembourgish' population like the Portuguise are wayyyy more integrated that the shit you see in Luxembourg-City. It's pretty much only a destination for bankers in the finance district. Goverment people and tourists in the centre. Drugpeople and crimminals at the railway district and some teenagers mixed in who think they are the hottest shit while just being shit. And some skaters ig. Go to Echternach; Diekirch and Ettelbruck; Wiltz or Vianden for a maybe less Urban view on Luxembourg but more authentic after you saw all the main cultural sites in the capital. You won't regret it.

The data is old, the places in the video are not like that now. I don't understand why would you publish an old video a week ago. In addition prices to live here are not that expensive but if all you wanna buy is from places in your video like Gucci and MK then yea it's like everywhere, and people work in Lux and live in other countries mainly because of the rent not because of living costs. Many inaccurate things in the video give yourself more than a weekend and more than a city to talk about next time.

In total a nice video, I would have wished to have seen a bit of the countryside. In your title it states Luxembourg, which is the country in total, and not only Luxembourg City. Even for such a small Country, there exist big differences in the regions. I agree, you can visit Luxembourg in one weekend, but it should be a long Weekend. Vianden, Echternach and the Mosel Region are already worth spending min. 1 day for each. But in total, great work to showcase Luxembourg City: )

I'd recommend you really spend a few days outside the capital city, because lots of the negative things you mentioned primarily apply to Luxembourg City. Outside of it you'll find more local restaurants (and people; ) ) quite easily and service may be a bit more polite (obviously that really depends on the place you go to) Prices could also be a bit lower once you leave the capital.
(don't get me wrong, Lux city's great but there's so much more to see)

Unlike other people here in the comment, I have to agree that the service is bad in Luxembourg, especially when you don't want to speak French/can't speak French. I want the service to speak to me in Luxembourgish, because it is Luxembourg and not France. I also experienced the situation where the service was bad because people spoke English to them. It is common because very often French people are just lazy using another language.

Folks, public transport AIN'T FREE, but free of transport tickets: passengers don't have to buy tickets any longer. The whole enchilada is costing a SHIT load of money to the taxpayers, for a minority using public transport. Why? Because we have to show our Porsches to the neighbor, while driving to the office. 5 miles away or something like that.

Many times I have nearly been run over when crossing the road. People just dont stop and it doesnt appear to make a difference what country the car is from. It seems surprising more people dont stop given that I believe it is 2 points on the license and 145 if caught ignoring a pedestrian crossing with someone crossing or waiting to cross.
