we head to Disney's Hollywood Studios to get a boarding pass for the new ride Rise Of The Resistance in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. We started the day at 6: 19am outside of the gates of Hollywood Studios amidst a large group of people with the same agenda as me, to ride Rise Of The Resistance. We made it into the park by around 6: 25 and looked around for the best WiFi or cellular signal to use to get on the My Disney Experience App right at 7am when they opened up the boarding groups. We were able to get group 55 with some luck and a fast WiFi connection. After we got our group we could relax until we got the notification that it was time to ride. We wandered around Hollywood Studios for a little and got some breakfast at Docking Bay 7. After a few hours we noticed that a rain storm was approaching so we decided it would be best to head home and wait for our boarding group to be called. Once it was called we had 2 hours to get back to Hollywood Studios and ride the ride. We were able to wait out the storm at home and then make it back in enough time for our boarding group. Rise of the Resistance was fantastic as always and I'm glad we were able to get a boarding pass that allowed us to go home and wait out the rain. All in all it was a fantastic and successful day! Be sure to join us tomorrow for another new video! Videos mentioned in this video: Rise Media Day: Galaxy's Edge Breakfast

Hi Guys. Just to share on my experience, sometimes the status strategy works sometimes it doesnt. Here is what worked for us as of Feb10th-14th. Guaranteed groups are done in less than a minute and backup groups in less than 2 minutes. They havent been hitting group 100 consistently so you really need to target a sub 60 group to make sure you get in. Everyone in the group should be trying to form and get a boarding pass. Whichever one does it first wins! Essentially your racing the crowd and your teammates Dont make the group too big, I wouldnt make it more than 4, adding people to a boarding party takes up valuable time. If you have a larger group split yourselves up and you can have a cast member join your groups later. Each person in the group should be trying a slightly different strategy, One should be starting the app 3 seconds before the park opens (it takes some time to launch and login), another should be in the main ride page (shows my status and join boarding group) and the third should be trying the status page. I found LTE to work better than WiFi but that seems to be a mixed bag and some of it is just luck.

Be warned that this ride breaks down very often because it is so complex. I ended up having to wait almost 2 hours in line after my boarding group was called because of traction issues, according to a cast member. Luckily the cast members started handing out water bottles and snacks and soon after we got on the ride and everything was working properly. Worth the wait! And worth the stress of getting to the park early to join a boarding group.

The part I'm worried about and dont understand is with a party of 7 will I be at a disadvantage with the time it takes me to click all 7 names to register for the boarding group or am I technically in place with my boarding group number as soon as I hit Join a boarding group. It seems like speed is of the essence and if someone only has to click on 1 or 2 names that might be the difference between getting a boarding group or not?

Wow. I haven't been to WDW in 8 years. The longest I've ever waited for a ride was maybe an hour and 20 minutes when Soarin' first opened up. You're telling me they've got 180 minute lines? And you need to download an app, get there before opening, and pray you're quick enough with your phone in order to get on the new Star Wars ride? That's insane.

Tips. 1) You need to be scanned and in before opening. 10-15 minutes before. 2) If you keep getting an error saying you arent in the park. go to guest relations right or stand near there. 3) I had a back-up group and got 2 away. Go to guest relations, you may get extra pixie dust. (Not saying you will, but never know)

I'm going to Hollywood Studios in Orlando on Febrary 6th, should I spend entire day at that park, or get a hopper for $60?
We will be going to Magic Kingdom the next day.
My nephew is getting a hopper and only spending half of the day at Hollywood Studios and the other half at Epcot.
Thoughts?

THAT DOESNT WORK! We just tried it this morning & it would not refresh when on that page-you have to go back. We got in at 6: 20 for a 7am opening and started at 7: 00 on the dot. Got boarding group 65. Its 3: 18 and they are on group 46 after 2 breakdowns. Expect to spend the whole day in the parks

Does anyone know if your entire party needs to be in the part at rope drop to get set up for a boarding pass on the app or can just one person go, sign into the app and set up the boarding pass for everyone in your group without the rest of the party at rope drop?

I am going this weekend to Disney. Do you know if when I go in my Disney app at 650am to get ready do I click on the Join button, then just pull down on the page to keep refreshing that page to get a pass hopefully?

I can't believe how hecktic it is. It's so sad that you need to there at seven in the morning just to ride an attraction. I'll be there next January and I hope it's a bit less crazy. Thank you for the helpful video!
