5: 20 Summer '89, I had big trouble with shepherds' dogs in the Rodnei Mountains in the other Marmarosh. The shepherds even hinted us at giving them away our watches. It was so traumatizing that we ended up renting a hotel room in Borsha for one night, after descending from Pietrosul (Rocky, 2308 m. When camping outside the hotel next day, stray dogs chewed through the heels of my boots and through my socks. That was the last straw. Which made me almost giving up hitch hiking ever since. Different times, different people, I guess.
