SO cool to be able to swim with these gentle giants! LOVED seeing (and hearing) them, especially the babies! Sad to see the white marks on them though - assuming those were some old trauma - boat props, etc. Glad they're healed, but still made me sad. Those springs, and all of the nature around them, are so gorgeous. That state park was so beautiful, loved al the animals and senior citizen Lou, livin' his best hippo life, just like Bubba, although Lou is MUCH cuter! :): ) Loved those areas the air boat went - so naturally beautiful - don't know much about trees, but I think those are Spanish moss hanging over the water, and I love the way they look!

Does someone remember a tv show maybe from a discovery about kids doing challenges in SeaWorld and Everglades? This video reminds me of that show may be from the 2000 or early I remember I was a kid and I was so fascinated with that show and I one chapter they went swimming with a manatee and also see some alligators there, I can't remember the name of the show but was a good memory from the childhood remember that show

I lived in Florida from the early 50's until 1990. I've never heard of air boats any where else but Florida. That big engine you were talking about was an aviation engine. Air boats really came in handy when Eastern Airlines went down west of Miami in the glades. Where the neighborhood Dad's in some places would play Golf, in South Florida they build air boats.

My parents live in Clearwater and we frequent Homosassa Springs when I visit from PA because my mom loves manatees and I love hippos. Lu is great! We also went kayaking at crystal river one time. It was a great time!

I wanted to do this SO bad when I was in Orlando in December. I don't remember why we couldnt do it. maybe cause of Covid? But we wound up kayaking with manatees instead and it was amazing

I went to Crystal River to see the manatees before. I went in early November and thats when youll see a lot of the moms and their babies, younger manatees, and the huge pods of manatees.
