going to go eat a bowl of khao soi that is truly a hidden gem! Khao Soi Loong Surin ( has a very cool story. The Uncle formerly sold his khao soi within Chiang Mai city near the university. But some 30 years ago he had enough of the city and decided to move to Doi Pui in the mountains just outside of the city. He opened his curry noodle stall within the Hmong village of Doi Pui. Joel and first had a bowl of beef khao soi, which was outstanding, so rich and so creamy and so meaty. Then we had a bowl of chicken. The beef was the winner without a doubt, but really, you can-t go wrong. It-s amazing that you-re just a 30 minute driver from the center of Chiang Mai, and yet it-s a totally different world - cold weather, mountain breeze, and some of the richest and best khao soi curry noodles that you-ll find in Chiang Mai! - Khao Soi Loong Surin ( - Joel-s Channel

Those beef noodles, with the chili looks amazing! Mark, you and Joel, have to come to visit New Mexico during chile season. August-October and taste our amazing freshly roasted green chile! The aroma in the air would make you fall in love! The taste is like nine other! Plus our chile rellenos, fresh roasted green chile on a freshly made tortilla, & green chile sauce, as well as green chile stew, is to die for! Get in touch with the town of Hatch, NM and see if they will give you a tour of the chile fields! You-ll fall in love, & never want to leave! Please come visit the chile capitol of the world New Mexico, Santa Fe, NM, Albuquerque, & Northern New Mexico, Taos!

I'm just so pleasantly surprised to see a Halal spot so high up in the mountains of Chiangmai! Really curious about the uncle's whole life story as well. how he ended up in the deep mountains of Chiangmai of all places haha. I'll definitely hit up this spot on my next Chiangmai trip; thanks a bunch for sharing as always Mark, Joel n fam!

Two observations. 1. Joel sounds exactly like Mark. It's like twins. 2. I was worried about Joel in the beginning - his lips looked purple/blue for the first half of the video! Dude must wear proper gear before cycling in the cold. Or if not that cold, may need to check blood circulation.

That-s a great Khao Soi move with the rehydration! Will definitely visit this joint next visit to CM. I-ve never had a beef Khao Soi in 24 years of travelling to Thailand, only chicken. I-ve been missing out big time!

Be cautious by only adding 1 spoon full? LOL! Looked delicious! Wish we would've enjoyed this place on our last trip. Saving for a future trip for sure. Love that Hmong village.

These videos are much better than any epic massive sponsored street food tour of yours I must admit. just a simple plate of khao soi, a rural background, a friend. This is life.
