Best Natural Tinder Sources - Identifying Tulip Poplar Tree for Tinder & Friction Fire luvtafsh: Kudos! Robby? Practice practice practice! ;) Try a little more pressure on the ferro rod. And Andrew? Seriously? It was starting to get dark to try friction fire? Not to worry, I've yet to master that skill myself. A lot of variables come into play on that one! Tulip poplar isn't as plentiful here in northern ohio as it is in central and southern ohio. But when I go to our families homestead on the edge of Wayne national forest in southern ohio, I stock up, if you will, on the inner bark of the tulip poplar. Btw, ever see the blossoms on a tulip poplar? Amazing! Anyway that stuff dries out pretty fast in your pocket! Great videos guys! Love Wayne National Forest and hammock camping!

Great video! I am considering moving to Ohio this month. I'm Gonna have a bachelors degree in environmental science. Do you guys have any rec. for places to apply? I tried the DNR. What do you guys do for a living?

Such a genuinely likable guy! I know poplars and cedars have cambium that is food for tinder, are there other trees that have that inner bark?
