Return to Japan Vlog Day 9 // Mt. Kumotori - The Long Road Home Carol: This was an impressive undertaking with significant elevation gain! I am glad to hear that you are interested in making your packs lighter. I hope this will lead to more adventures toward high elevations with spectacular views like in this video. I can't wait to see the finished video from this one. I just wanted to suggest a book that I read that helped me lighten my load ( and it was somewhat entertaining to read, funny pictures. I recommend the book called Ultralight Backpacking Tips by Mike Clelland. He may take it a bit far, but it gave me a good place to start reducing my pack to keep the trips enjoyable, not painful. Anything to compensate for your camera equipment weights. Best wishes re: your continued excellence in your work.

My total winter pack trail weight is 35 lbs. Did you say that your pack is 90 L 's? My advice is to try a 65 L pack. This will help you pack what items that you need the most. It should still give you enough room for the camera gear. My winter pack is 65 L and the summer pack is 48 L. I only carry about 2 1/2 lbs of camera gear. With the awesome videos that you make I know you carry a lot more. Bob

Again, I wish the U. S. had better public transportation. In a big city it's pretty good, but still people are made to be dependent on cars most of the time. It's disappointing.
When I went to Germany, they seemed to have the balance right. When we went to the country, we used cars. But the public transportation is MUCH more accessible.

Great video series guys. my usual load out is about 20kg when I do 1-2 nights out, and that is only 2. 5kg cam gear. So I know how it felt Robby.
