Two were colonized by the British, two were colonized by Japan. Korea is probably the least influenced as they try very hard to erase the marks of Japan's colonization. British rules of Hong Kong and Singapore absolutely have helped HK and SG integrate into the western economy. Taiwan was once fast-growing, but it suffers an identity crisis after democratization in 1990. It is not recognized by most countries and faces international blockade from Beijing. The pandemic showed Taiwanese government is still quite capable. All four tigers are not comparable except for their similar economic boom during the 70s to 90s.

Hong Kong not even a real country its a region of China. I think what people really need to do is fix this and put Japan up there instead of Hong Kong. It should be Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea. Those are the real four Asian tigers not Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a third world shithole town region that's a part of China!

Hong Kong isn't even recognized as its own country so it don't make sense to put it up there in the same league as Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan. That's why I said Japan should be listed along with those three places not HK. Taiwan is internationally recognized as an independent country despite its status with China.

Hahaha I still remembered when I watched this video 2 years ago to decide to go to Taiwan or North-EU for studying, Taiwan is lagging behind South Korea. But now GDP per capita of Taiwan in both nominal and PPP are all higher than Korea: )
