Been a long time since I was on the Caledonian Sleeper (it was still run by Scotrail then, & because I was an idiot who booked last minute I ended up in economy & still paid eyewatering prices. That said, while I've had better nights in my life that was mostly because of someone in the next seat who snored like a traction engine. If I did it again I'd definitely bring earplugs. It was comfy enough though (& the newer seats look even better) & I did still get enough sleep to be on the go all day & well into the night. Wouldn't exactly say I'd recommend it, and using the showers at Euston when you arrive is essential, but it wasn't quite the nightmare you might expect. But definitely take earplugs.

Thank you for the video, I've always been curious to see how the Caledonian Double looks!
Been on the Caledonian Sleeper several times with return trips to Edinburgh and Inverness from London, it's my preferred way to travel to Scotland. Can't seem to sleep too well on the upright seats but I love the little touches like the free eyemask and that the toilet is nicer than on other trains, would also like to try the food on the Club Car one day.

It has to be said, many think that the new CS coaches are in many ways, a backward step in terms of comfort, especially so the ride qaulity at speed and it has been critised many, many times since their introduction, various things not working properly is another common gripe. The cost is also collosal and poor VFM. Another negative is that the lounge car has lost the ambiance that the old cars had. You're very lucky to have slept well. -

8: 00 around the UK rail network you'll notice 2/3/4/5/8/12 car stop boards for the driver all over the place (yeah there's loads more others too) if you look over his shoulder you'll notice ZZ on a small black board. This is the stop car marker for the sleeper. Lovely little touch that! haha. off on my first trip on the cally sleeper on Thursday, looking forward to it, especially as I get 75% off being a train driver.

Superb review. I-ve spent many times traveling on the Night Riviera, London to Cornwall and have travelled both in the seats and in a cabin. The night trains are a great way to travel but you won-t get any sleep in the seats unless you-re drunk! Pay up and get a bunk at least. Look forward to your Thai adventure. -

To most people in Western Europe, it seems incomprehensible that you would need a 12 hour overnight train for a distance of 900 kilometers! Especially taking into account the insanely expensive prices of rail travel in the UK!

Don't really like these new style vlogs where it's a constant in your face selfie moment. I get it, but for this type of content I don't need to look at you 500 times.

30 bucks for such a nice meal doesn't seem like a lot at all. Here in California that's a normal meal, not even one as nice, plus gratuity.
