Watch this video to see what a First Class Bus in the United States looks like. I took The Jet from Washington, DC to New York City! It claims to be an all-new, first-class travel experience that combines the luxury of a private jet with the affordability and convenience of a motorcoach. But, does it live up to the hype of a First Class Bus? Watch this video and youll see what its like to board, ride, and arrive in style on a First Class Bus with the Jet, a motorcoach a step above the rest. On this First Class Bus trip from Washington, DC to New York City, youll see the first ever Hoverseats, which effectively allow you to float above the bumps and dips of the interstate as you travel the 228 miles along the spine of the Northeast Corridor, I-95. From the First Class Bus attendant delivering food and drinks to you to ultra high-speed wi-fi, luxurious bathroom, and space-age seats, all of this First Class Bus experience can be yours for as little as $99. Youll even meet the CEO of the Jet since he kicked off our First Class Bus ride! The Jet offers a First Class Bus from Washington and New York, and also makes the return First Class Bus from New York to Washington

I rank bus as probably the worse way to travel. I'd rather be in a car that way you can take as many stops as you want or maybe you would like to eat something that you want. I rank train as a better experience than flying as there is no stress, you can walk around, plenty of sight seeing outside the window. Just an overall enjoyable experience. Flying is the worse but generally the fastest way of transportation but with that comes much stress and unwanted fatigue. There is one bus here in california that takes a dump on this bus Jeb is showcasing and that's the bus that takes you from northern california to southern but it has beds which makes the experience 10x better than this one. You go to sleep and wake up feeling refreshed at your destination all for the same price as this bus. This bus fails because its just a chair and I like many people cannot sleep upright unless it's like the third day and my body just lets go and gets a few z's here and there. The one that I have no tried which is better than all of these put together is a cruise since its like a floating city. That will be experienced here soon in the spring time.

Yea. for a route like NY to DC, this is WAY better than flying. I can't believe I'm saying that, but the time and hazzle to get to- and from the airports, the hazzle AT the airports, but make WAY more sence. In fact, the only real competition is train, but for 100 Dollars in REAL comfort. the 'JET' bus win.
I'm not sure this would work on longer trips, because then the hazzle with airports would still be preferable in time-saving, so perhaps not NY to Chicago or Atlanta, but for shorter busy routes like Boston - NY or even some longer such as DC - Pittsburg, the 'JET' concept could work. The only negative in this is the perception of the words 'coach' or 'bus', both of which make me think of old crowded Greyhoud busses with some passengers with social skills of cave-men (shouting, eating strong smelling food, singing along a music trac on their phone or even Walkman and smoking pot. No, the 'JET' concept really is something VERY different, even compared to new companies in the sector, such as Flixbus or Megabus. Those companies have taken over the cave-men mentality.

I find it interesting from your reports Jeb that the east coast has so many wonderful mass transit options. Sure, a huge percentage of the countries population lives on the east coast but I understand why we in the midwest and elsewhere outside the east coast feel like the forgotten child. This is why we need a well planned and well built passenger rail service in America. If we had more, and more reliable trains, you might see more cool bus service like JET that could help you finish the last of your journey by connecting the train to your hometown, much like regional airlines do today.

Problem with Prevost is they all run a volvo d13 engine thats prone to failures and roadside can rarely fix it as its all volvo only parts that have to be ordered or picked up from a volvo tractor service center. Would be better if they just ran Cummins or even Detroit. Volvos have too many plastic parts and the D13 is the weakest of the engines they make. The D16 is what should be used if they insist on a partnership with volvo. D16 has less problems as it has more power and boost so its not straining constantly.

I'd probably opt for the train to be honest, because you can usually get up and walk around, not that sitting for 4 hours is a huge deal, but you're also in rather close quarters on the bus (unless you get the seat on the one side that only has one seat. Train might also get you there a bit faster (as mentioned) but you might miss out on some of the views I guess.

Please have this in Texas, Arizona, and the West Coast.
This is PERFECT for Phoenix - Las Vegas, Phoenix - San Diego, Phoenix - Tucson - El Paso, Dallas - Houston, Dallas - Austin, Houston - Austin - San Antonio, San Francisco - Sacramento, Seattle - Portland, etc.

So, they basically put the same seat bus drivers have into a passenger cabin. Not really groundbreaking. This will fail over just going by rail. With rail, you don't have the threat of traffic jams or accidents shutting down or at least slowing your route.

I took a train between those cities once. But I wasn't impressed with the Acela train when compared to the KTX in South Korea. Which reminds me, if you're ever in South Korea then maybe you should try out the Premium Gold buses there.

I went on a school field trip on a Volvo bus to a museum in Dallas on a Volvo it looked exactly like that bus I itch all the features and it was so nice it lil looked like that buss without the paint and the seating space and the tray tables

Some people always compare flying to road travel, but forget the hour to check-in, boarding, runway, etc. You add in the fact you don't need to worry abotu what is TSA approved, etc. and these will become a legitimate option for some

Not entirely familiar with rental prices in the US but for $99 I could probably rent a car for the distance, right? And I just love driving myself, so I don't need the service in the bus, nor would I have to sleep or work.
reply

I find $99 for a trip from DC to NYC pretty cheap. How do they cover the operating costs with so few passengers? I suspect this is an introductory price and once they get going the rates are going to jump up much higher.

Would be great to see this get as extensive as greyhound.
If not that at least SAN-LAX, especially since the Amtrak journey along that route has recently been having issues with coastal erosion.

Megabus is also wonderful! Not as classy as Jet but it serves the same purpose. Extremely reasonable. peacefulquiet. Their service is great. However this Jet looks very nice because it is new.

great video, I would love to give them a try
from an European point of view. it's so weird that a bus travels along the left most side lane all the time it's so much different here

Nice video thank you for sharing. I live in Maryland and my daughter travels to NYC usually by train to visit her boyfriend. Id love to travel on this bus one day to visit NYC never been

A nice bus, for sure, but you're still stuck in traffic in a stop-and-go, lurching vehicle. Case in point: at 5: 10: We hit the first traffic jam. I'll always prefer the train.

Wow - this is a fantastic idea. As a Brit currently planning to travel the USA, I was surprised at how expensive some forms of public transport can be - good luck to them!

I took the JET last fall and unfortunately they still do not have their meal service. But I should say, its a one of a kind expeirience. Our driver reggie was very nice
reply

Jeb, you should revisit the Jet, to see if they made any improvement since the last time you rode was a year ago. Lots of improvements could have happened in a year.

Im so envious as someone from China as we only take high-speed railways or planes to travel between cities. Traveling by bus is just so old-school here.
reply

YESSSS! That CEO needs to come out west, he would make a KILLING doing California trips and honestly the West Coast is prime for this type of travel.

I travel between DC and NY as I and my ancestors always have. in an 1889 electric cabby energized by 30 gerbils in a centrifical dynamo!

Hi Jeb, thanks for a great review. One question, at the end of video you say; would make me choose a cellar. Sorry, what dos celler mean?
reply

Bus, as the extra time you need for the booking and so and so at airport, better be in a bus and enjoy the view in a relaxing seat
reply

Seems like a very nice budget friendly option to travel. If they did Montreal to Toronto or like NYC to Miami. Would be nice

Go Global and never neglect quality! Also, make sure to better post signs for your bus boarding locations and departures!

Good news I am in Washington DC near your jet bus stop 7: 35
Can you please make a more video about Washington DC?

reply

WOW! For a bus, I'm speechless. Although I'd prefer the train, but it would be nice if it stops in Philadelphia.
reply

Most busses (at least in Australia) have about 70 seats!
Edit: but they are really packed when full.
