I've made several flights on the A380 in the last ten years and I can heartily recommend it as an airframe to aim for when looking at flights. I've flown it from Melbourne to LA (and vice-versa, and I feel certain I've flown it at least once between Melbourne and San Francisco.
Because I don't have a lot of money to spend, I fly economy. I typically choose seats at the butt-end of the plane, thinking that people tend to prefer not to sit there for a whole mess of reasons. My experience on the A380, however, is a little different, and my favourite economy seats are actually on the UPPER deck. The last row in the centre is usually a 2-3-2 config (from memory) but the port-side end of the 3-seats is closed off by a bulkhead. 3 out of 5 trips I've had that row ALL TO MYSELF, which makes it a DIY SkyCouch! I find the WC to be a little more roomy and because you're so close to the galley - and because the upstairs flight attendants have fewer charges to look out for - food tends to be warmer and so does the service! (I don't know - it may also have a little to do with the Caramello Koalas I always share with the flight attendants)

back in 2010 - 2012 AIRBUS announced plans to launch a stretched variant of the A380-800 twin-deck wide body quad jet, the A380-900 LR. .. but the stretched A380-900 LR never launched due to less than anticipated sales of the A380-800. .. the stretched A380-900 LR was to fly anywhere between 522 paxs - 538 paxs in a typical A380-800 style 3-class cabin configuration. .. across a distance of 18, 344 kms non-stop, meaning you could fly Sydney (SYD) - London (LHR) non-stop or Mumbai (BOM) - Las Vegas (LVS) non-stop. .. in 2001 - 2003 when AIRBUS launched the first A380-800 it should have been the stretched A380-900 LR variant & not the A380-800. .. the A380 sales figures would have been quite different then. .. 362 - 420 units of the stretched A380-900 LR would have sold by rough estimates. .. plus 50 - 60 future options & production of the A380-900 LR would have sustained well until 2028 - 2030. ..

3: 55, Yes I have been on an A380, when I was 8 years old back in June 2017 when I was going to the UK to see family, I believe the airline I flew with on the A380 was Thai Airways since we made a stopover in Bangkok, Thailand from our starting point in Melbourne, Australia where I live to swap planes so we could continue onwards to London, and we were on an A380. What made it more special, we were in the TOP deck of the aircraft! I remember climbing up those stairs to the top deck, and as soon as we started taxiing, I automatically go onto the screen on the seat in front of me, and I watched Shrek, and as soon as the song heard at the start of the film 'All Star' ended, the plane was already airborne, and I knew this was the start of an amazing memorable childhood memory, flying on my favourite Commercial airliner aircraft, and in the top deck of it!

Hopefully in the next 12 months or so I might start to fly back to the USA. I will really miss the former Virgin Australias 777-300er with their bar for business class passengers. Provided the opportunity to do/be somewhere other than your seat. The other benefit was to actually have chats with some of your fellow passengers on the long flights out from Australia.

I could have sworn I was in Sydney Kingsford smith at the Same time as you I could see all the same planes like the AirAsia x flight qf2 and the china airlines a350 so I was wondering what time you were there
I also had a really excellent view from Sydneys first class lounge it gives a great view of the international gates!

First trip to Sydney was in the mid-80s - 1st class on a Continental DC-10 - been back again 5 times- once CO 1st class 747, next 3 Qantas 747, upper deck business, last in 2019 United 787 business class- outbound via SF, returning via Houston- 17 hours - all flights free with FF miles- have enough in the bank for one more trip

Ive flown on the a380 1-3 times and the route for one flight was Heathrow to SFO and the other two might not have been on the a380 since it was before I was into planes and I just cant remember the flights but that was from Heathrow to miami and back

Just done the hop on the A380, London Via Singapore, then returned from Milan via Dubai, what a plane, comfy, quiet, so much better. Jumping on this flight in a couple of months, will be interested to see the comparison with the Dreamliner.

30 minutes to check in Business Class? How bad is that. On my regular GRU/CDG/LHR flight it normally takes around 10 minutes and around the same time on the return. I guess they check in more than one flight at the same counter?

I remember growing up on the north side of DFW seeing the Qantas 747-400. And was there when to watch the first Qantas A380 at DFW. Growing up seeing those planes sparked my passion for aviation and can proudly call myself a pilot.

Ive flown the emirates a380 a few times, economy and business. Its a dream! I did dubai to brisbane. I would like to try etihad and starlux airlines next.

Did that same flight back in September 2017 in both directions but Qantas were using the A380 at the time. Could only afford economy class but still OK.

June 2017 I flew LAX to SYD, then SYD to DFW - both were A380s then. I too flew the upper deck business class. My best flights ever - also most expensive.

A380 business with Qantas is way better. I always fly this Mel-Lax-Mel. Direct flights it is the best so much more room and very comfortable flat bed

The best thing about DFW airport is that it is in the center of the country. I can go from here to LA or to NYC in about the same amount of time.
