Quite surprised by the coal heater in the train. This is for all practical purposes a modern train with electrical supply from locomotive with air conditioning etc. I would have expected electric heat. Wonder if the coal stove is there for show. (looking back at start of video, the number of cables betweens cars as your wife boards is a tell that there is head end power from locomotive. )
Quote surprised they don't have a bathroom for each bedroom. (they have 2 between each bedroom, one facing one bedroom and the other facing the other bedroom. They woudl likely lose at least 1 bedroom to provide toilets to the other bedrooms. But for such a train, this is quite surprising they didn't do that.

Like all products marketed by LVMH, everything is extremely overpriced when there is only the bare minimum. To fool ultra-riches who don't care about that money, I have no problem with it. But they do tend to market it to the general public as an only once in a lifetime thing to con the money. Basic Veuve Cliquot for PDB What is this, Ikea You spend the same money on int'l F class, most of the times you at least get $200 bubbles. Even the piano in the lounge is a Schimmel (Not bad-mouthing Schimmel, just saying that's not luxurious.

I'm so glad you guys finally did this. I have to say that while I have always THOUGHT I wanted to ride the Orient Express. now I am thinking there are other train adventures that would better reflect how I like to eat and experience travel. To be honest, I think your Pho-Orient Express adventure. despite the busses and missed trains and frustrations. overall looked like a far more exciting adventure. Hey Jeb. Did anyone notice your Shiki-Shima pin

I love you guys' attitude about all the experiences you have been prepared to share with us. This trip is one my spouse and I have shared on a totally different sleeper train from Florence to Paris. I am impressed that you did it nevertheless, not withstanding the expense. Just remember that, as you have both flown first class, now you can claim to have railed first class: great and in twenty years time the memory will still be fresh.

Of all the things in this video it was so wonderful to see Suzanne and Jeb in full elegant mode; Jeb in his tux and Suzanne in the dinner dress and the stringger ear rings.
That being said; I'm sorry, I'm too plebian for this journey; I can't appreciate the food or the wine; too much of my middle-class midwest up-bringing; glad they enjoyed it and it was fun to watch, but sorry, not for me.

Love that Shiki Shima pin Jeb!
We got to ride it last week for 4 days from Tokyo to Aomori and Hokkaido!
But that was 4 days for USD$12k, with everything including alcohol included and an ensuite bathroom and shower. That came with VIP excursions too! Compared to that, this seems like a ripoff!
For all you viewers, learn some Japanese and please take the Shiki Shima instead!

I have been waiting for this particular trip, and two of you have given a wonderful vicarious experience. I recently watched some of Jeb's earlier videos where he mentioned Suzanne was more comfortable behind the camera; thanks for encouraging her to move to in front of the camera. She has enriched your videos with interactions with you.

Great trip, of course it is pricey. The price for the caviar was way too high. You can tell that train it for the bougie rich. Makes Amtrak look pathetic. You two looked great and Jeb in black tie, fancy dude. Suzanne always looks lovely. I have a vcr tape from 1982 showing the trip, the train was fancy back then too.

Another gem! The whole atmosphere that you presented takes me back to only what I could imagine was the golden age of elegance and luxury. What was presented in this short video, truly looked like the experience of a lifetime. Keep up the great work! Maybe you'll do another video starting Istanbul

On alchool: some countries insist on an alchool tax per drink and it becomes very hard to calculate for the tour operator if it is handed out free to passengers. Some cruise ship close their bars when inside certain coutry's territorial waters due to this 9sicne some passegers have drinks packages.

Beautiful train, exquisite food and you didn’t have the hassles of the summer trip. Worth $9, 000 for a bunk bed with no bathroom Definitely not. I agree other your other trips provided more in terms of value what you paid. Thanks for the glimpse into an iconic train route.

Parroting others, thank you for this. Fascinating to see normals experience something we might not ever do. It's unfortunate you didn't really get to interact with other passengers. Would've been fascinating to hear some of their stories and how they arrived in this place.

For $4500 a night there should be a reasonable amount of drinks included but it's not a super big deal at that price to be honest. I suspect this is one of those things that you say might be expensive until you actually do it, then you are like ah, so that's why it costs so much.

At $0. 10/ SECOND ummmmm, no. The drinks and caviare wasn’t included
It seems like it’s geared towards the billionaires, not the millionaires I know how to spend a dollar better thanks for sharing that experience! Its was amazing to see, but not for me.

Beautifully curated experience and as always your videos are sublime! The food and entertainment spaces are really top notch. However, I will say that for $9000 the room is way too small and doesn't compare to some of the other luxury trains you have been on.

For a cheapest starting price of $4500 per person, it SHOULD include most drinks AND all but the most expensive caviar and champagne. They're riding the coat tails of the fame of the name (and Agatha Christie) and getting people to pay through the nose for it.

Hearing Jeb say he wasn't expecting much in the way of scenery, as the most wonderful scenery ever was shown passing, was amazing - it's always nice to find such an unexpected treat on a trip (which is already such a treat, esp. a train trip like this one.

It's a dream come true. Just wonderful, classic. The food looked deliciously beautiful. Champagne, a piano. But 9 grand for that tiny room, no on suite, is abit of a dissapointment, I would feel let down, & you have to pay for drinks, is day light robbery.
