skardu's cold desert is one of the most beautiful places on earth, hands down. i stayed at a military camp there and had a great experience. hope you did too you should visit ansoo jheel, aka teardrop lake, near naran. It's a bit of a trek but definitely worth it. Also, babusar valley is amazing

There is absolutely NO COMPARISON to Indian side of Kashmir. The land is barren and devoid of life, it is untouched beauty but not really pleasing to the eyes

I visited this area in 1991. I had assumed it was too dangerous for Americans to visit now, but looking online, it sounds like it's perfectly safe and very welcoming
