IS THIS THE NEW NORMAL? Flying after the COVID19 lockdown.

This was very exciting at the time as 787's were very new, even though I was a domestic passenger I had to go through international check in but it would all be worth while wouldn't it.
NO. the flight was cancelled due to technical issues and I along with my now ex wife and infant son were sent out of the international terminal to terminal 4 to board an A319.
I was informed by my ex wife that I was not to board the flight until I had made sure our luggage was with me and on the flight.
I must commend the airline staff that brought a conga line of suit cases to the customs door until I had our three cases and then the loverly lady directing the whole show took off her heals and helped run with the luggage across the airport, shouting on the radio not to shut the door of the A319.
We made it but I have never been so P'd off yet so relieved and impressed at the same time. But I think this proves there is no gate 1 and Airlines and their staff will do anything to cover it up!

I really enjoy your travel videos Noel but I need to ask you a genuine question. Why did you take that flight? I'm not being in any way critical or judgemental but it's not something I would do in this current climate. I love travel with trains being my passion as planes are yours but I could never see myself traveling on a train just now.
It's not a case of well, we can all travel to save the airline industry, this virus kills and is super infectious.
Personally, I think air travel at the moment is too much of a risk to my health. Do you think it's not?

Thanks so much for this video! I travel or should I say, traveled quite a bit both for work and privately before this pandemic and look forward to getting back to doing that again! Good to see that there are safely measures in place at Schipol and Arlanda, both airports I've been to. Very weird to see it so empty! I am from Canada and flying across the Atlantic will be an experience. wearing a facemask is just a tiny part of this new normal. KLM flies here or did before the lockdown. Stay well and safe travels to all.

Now, masks are everywhere and you can even find it in freaking Walmart, still a lot of Americans aren't wearing them, and yet they are lining up for ammunations, they are sold out on 9mm ammos. It's pointless. Not only are masks not airtight, but a virus can enter your body through your eyes as well as airways. In a plane you're just stuck in a sealed box of people with virus leaking out of some of them, then breathing in the recycled air. That's exactly why it spread in the first place. No thanks. I won't be flying anywhere, ever.

There is a choice to make now, either we go back to normal capacity flying now or we will be loosing the vast bulk of air travel. Airlines will not be able to operate with 1 passenger per 3 seats, full stop. And also next year going back to normal is far far too late. Airplanes on the ground for long times are very expensive.

Wow this reminds me of when I flew during the early months of the pandemic here in the USA. Laguardia airport in NYC was totally deserted. Crazy, eerie, and sad. So glad you documented it for posterity. Hopefully we will be getting out of this mess later in the year with the vaccines coming online and scaling up.

Im making a flight from Belfast to Gatwick hopefully next Easter time to visit friends for a week. How much back to normal will airports be like then? Will lounges be open again in March-April 2021? Its a long time away but 9 months will just fly by! Im also exempt from a face mask due to my learning disability

Food in a cardboard container ON THE SEAT! Probably one of the most contaminated places on the plane next to the toilets. Speaking as someone who has wiped down tray tables, arm rests etc for years, I guess well all now have to wipe down our food containers too. Missing flying.

Its just so weird to think the stuff we take for granted, went on holiday last year never thought it would be the last time for a long time, nice video to see this sort of stuff, times certainly weird at the moment. Good luck to all of you especially those of you in aviation.

Looks like the new normal to me. With the quarantine requirements back to the U. K, I cant see people rushing to take holidays with an additional 2 week isolation when they get back.
Expect to see a lot more airlines kicking the bucket in the next months/years.

I would love to see more of your videos include the full non-accelerated takeoff and final approach/landing. I don't know if that would cause more work or not, but I just never get tired of them. Thank you again for the awesome footage!

Hi Noel thanks for showing us what flying was like at the absolute height of the pandemic in spring and summer 2020. I am so happy that we are back to the way things were before March 2020 for the most part. Again thank you.

As much as Im bothered that we need to use masks all the time, but at least they didnt ask you for testing of swab or so which is the worst lol, Thank u for sharing the experience, btw what camera type are you using?

Thank you so much for this video, Noel. It makes me hopeful that things are starting to phase back into our normal normal. I look forward to getting back into the air, hopefully beginning in 2021.

It's interesting to see, I certainly won't be travelling for a long time now which is sad as I'd very much like to but no way I'm travelling when my travel insurance is effectively null and void.

If you take it literally the cabin announcement of it is mandatory at all times while on the flight to wear your face mask how are you supposed to eat and drink the snacks that was left on your seat?

That's what the airports in America looked like when they opened back up after 9/11. Only thing missing is armed guards in full turn out gear patrolling with assault weapons in the terminal.

Noel you should try the daily Inverness to Amsterdam flight. Such a great flight to be available in the north of Scotland for a holiday in the Netherlands or for catching a connecting flight.
