There is a book you should read I think. It is called Rough-Hewn Land by Keith Heyer Meldahl. In it he drives from California to the Rockies. He also explains the Basin n Range you are driving thru. Did you know Salt Lake and Reno are drifting apart half an inch a year Not only do we get to see this geology of the past through your travels but it is still on going today. The earth is alive and this is one of the most fascinating living areas on the planet. I could go on and on but lunchtime is almost over. Thank you thank you for letting us see living geology in the slowest of motion today. :D

I wish I lived in America.
Just imagining a time when there were no roads or cars or trains and to be faced with that kind of view must have been mind blowing.
It is now and somewhere I would love to experience.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the nearest I’ve been but to see those open spaces makes me sad and envious (in a good way) and I hope those who live there appreciate its wonder.
Awesome.

I'm very enjoying this kind of video. but I'm curious how can you drive 400 miles in 4 5 hrs. it means run constantly at 80 mph for 5 full hrs.
anyway, I found a vast dessert with mountaineous background such as in Nevada is somehow very relaxing. like a peaceful place for blank spacing, maybe even better in winter. such a beautiful landscape.
Cheers from Indonesia

I drove on this section of I-80 in Nevada eastbound and westbound as a part of my road trip recently, but before your video. Some of those road construction scenes and detours look familiar to me.
Your video quality is always so good. No glare, light reflection, or dead insects. How did you achieve this Good job.

I once knew a cute gurl who worked as a lab scientist and lived in Fallon, Nevada. Sadly, our distance was too high, so we never got together. That was over 10 years ago. :( But thanks for showing me the region I would have lived if I had decided to move. :) Greetings from Switzerland!

This would be a quiet ride for me as I stare. Never in my life have I been somewhere with such vast stretches of mostly flat and barren landscape. To me it really makes the world seem a whole lot bigger compared to here where there's tall trees, hills, and mountains everywhere, lol.

Interstate 80 in Nevada is one of the most beautiful and underrated drive in the country, especially in the spring and early summer with the views of the snow-capped mountains. Nevada is Spanish for snow-capped and I-80 helps Nevada live up to its name very well.

I absolutely love driving the western half of this country. Your video reminds me of just how beautiful it is out here. Made this trip several times in the 70s, and the clarity and quality of your video makes me excited to do it again. Thank you for the inspiration!

One thing that puzzled me is that when driving West and making a pit stop and then by mistake enter the freeway going East, you may have to drive 50 miles East before you can make a legal U-turn going back West, thus wasting 100 miles of driving.

Driving across the Great Basin expanse of Nevada to arrive at your ultimate destination of California. Nevada has the most mountains outside of Alaska. I consider California and Nevada one in the same. I love both equally CALNEV

Fifty years ago I needed a camper and my dad to get a week off from work just so we could travel around Nevada from our home in So Cal. Now its just a few hours on the internet with breaks. Not sure if that is a good thing.

Love this drive. Thing is I want to get out at every single point cause the landscape is nothing but gorgeous. Millions of square miles of desert and cactus in the West that is nothing but Eye Candy.

Beautiful - High resolution scenery! This is the road I traveled many times but that was back in the 60s. The road then was mostly single lane. You've got me hooked and I'm ready for more!

I want to drive 95 through Nevada so badly! Ever since I found Walker Lake on a map, I knew I wanted to see it in person. And the ghost towns on that route are legendary.

Excellent driving skills. Pleasure watching! Used to drive that highway some 60 years ago - doesn't seems to have changed all that much.
