KANSAS: Entering Our 48th State When I was a child, my father, who was in the Air Force, was stationed in Kansas a few different times. We lived in Topeka, Salina and Wichita. I have fond memories of my time in KS. Although Im a native Texan, I currently live in Virginia, but I travel around the country, usually over the road. Its a real pleasure driving through Kansas, as the interstates (I-70, I-35, I-135) are not congested like they are on the East and West Coasts. Believe me, its no fun being stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for long periods of time. Some people find the flat landscape of Kansas boring, but I dont find it boring. I personally like the wide-open spaces found in Kansas, where you can see for miles and miles! All the best, Kansas!

I started watching on the road again a month or so again and became addicted. I am familiar with quite a few places as, I came from overseas, and went to final high school year in 1966 in New Jersey. After that it was four years of university in DC and a few years later I attended engineering courses in Houston. I have also lived with relatives in Silicon Valley. On top of all that I have been to 28 states. Loved every minute and you brought back memories.
However you have missed going to more than a few State Capitols. What gives Looking forward to Hawaii Five-O and North to Alaska.

I spent time growing up in a town that small but in upstate NY. So hardly anybody believes me when I say it! haha How many people have ever heard of Rock Stream though, for true
Being from the twin tiers region of NY/PA I saw border communities but here it's kinda dissected by eroded mountains, so there's not as easily any roads ON the state line.

My grandmother grew up in this general part of Kansas, before moving to Colorado in about 1920. They made the move with all their possessions in a covered wagon.
She lived in the little village of Soldier, and went to high school in Holton. There were only about a dozen students in her graduating class.

Just done 3 states and will continue. Curious as to where you stay as most the time you places with few services. Heck, just finding a toilet, a clean one to boot. Doesn’t look like you are camping, We did 26, 000 in 1974 in a 69 VW pop top. Fun and interesting

you have a unique flair for making everyplace you visit seem so drab and unappealing, please return to my state and find a way to make Montana unappealing to all the folks invading us, its an onslaught without relief, help lol

Kansas
-as Blofeld said in 007's Diamonds are Forever caper:
Right now, the satellite is over Kansas; but of course, if we destroy Kansas, the world may not know about it for years.

Have enjoyed your video series, but to be a smart ass and correct you. .. . You could actually drive to Alaska. .. But I wouldn't advise starting that trip this late in the year. . .

Talk about toeing the line. There was a dispute here on the SC/NC line. Some businesses were paying SC taxes for years, now they settled it and they have to pay HIGHER NC taxes.

Lanham is pronounced Lannum You were right. I should know. Its my last name and there's a town in Maryland where a lot of the Lanham's from the 1800's are resting.

You should never miss the Nebraska sandhills', the largest prairie on the world. Valentine is a perfect gateway to realize the many local wonders.

Hope you have gone to the Sedgewick Co zoo in Wichita. They have a really cool jungle exhibit. I think it rivals the Henry Doorly zoo

Kansas has a lot of natural beauty, quirky and historic small towns, a lot of ghost towns. I haven't visited any of its major cities yet.

You can drive to Alaska. You have to drive through Canada first though. Only Hawaii would you have to fly or take a ship to get there.

I think one of the 2 states new pave their side of the road to be better than the other. Why always talk about Australian siri
