CALIFORNIA: A Beach Town Worth Visiting What We Saw In Oceanside Lived in San Diego and Temecula for over 40 years, been to Oceanside only a few times during the summer with my kids and love it there. Grew up in Mira Mesa back in the 80’s, as teenagers we would either hung out at La Jolla or Mission Bay Fiesta Island with lots of friends building bond fires and BBQ. San Diego is so expensive to live and too crowded with lots of traffics. Last year I moved to a rural town in Texas an hour and a half from Austin, I’m retire and just love the peacefulness and the cost of living is much cheaper here. Thank you for the video, enjoyed watching and kind of miss SoCal but happy to be in Texas.

Wow, this city has changed so much. Back when I was growing up everyone in San Diego used to think of Oceanside as a dump. Now it's become a nice beachside resort getaway that people from all over come to now. Kinda cool to see what they did with the Top Gun house.
It would be cool to see you both visit other North County San Diego beachside towns like Encinitas, Solana Beach, Leucadia and Carlsbad. There are plenty of nice sights and interesting communities to visit around there.

Another great video Joe, what a great place, love the drone shots, it gives you a great view of the wider area.
Got to agree, loved the Sunsine Brooks theatre I just live art-deco buildings.
Oceanview is well placed between San-diego and LA.
Hotel looked nice you book a great suite. The pier may be long, but a bit boring when compared to Santa-Monica's. I see it's close to Camp Pendleton.
It looks a great place to live.
Glad you and Nicole enjoyed your stay.

Nice drone work, I really like the flight over the pier. Looks like you lucked out and missed the recent storm when you were in Oceanside, but I imagine it caught up with you at some point. (snow in Huntington Beach) The Top Gun house is kind of cool, an interesting companion location to Kansas City BBQ in San Diego, which proudly advertises itself as the location of the sleazy bar scene. The first taco you had looks like a quesabirria--yum yum!

Fabulous! Thanks for all you do- and HELLO Nicole! u'all are havin a good ol time aint ya- sorry, trying out my southern accent- which I dont have! - being an aussie! but I have odd accent, due to having lots of friends from other places. I look all the time for your latest and sometimes, I watch/re-watch your old vids, due to the fact that they are my 'go-to' for relaxation & learning. Thanks U 2.

Your wife, Nicole is a gym freak and so am I, but my favorite gym equipment, rowing machine, is rare. You won't find rowing machine in many hotels / motels / inns across the country. In either 2010 or 2011, there was an article published in the NY times comparing rowing machine, treadmill, static bike and eliptical machine. guess which one came out on top You bet it is the rower.

LOL! $250 a night. I am the frugal watcher. That is so much for a bed! I do enjoy your videos. Lots to see and do there. Nicole! That's her name. Hello, Nicole. I'm Patti. Nice to meet you. Funny how we become Wifey, or the old lady, or whatever. Keep the videos coming and if you come through Central Il again message me. I would love to show you guys our small town.

I spent 16 years of my life there, right around the corner inside Camp Pendleton. Back in the 1980' it was a military town, Marines all over the place going to and from. Wow, not anymore. Today it looks like the Vegas strip. Where all those fine 10 story buildings are there used to be mom and pop stores, restaurants, shops. bars, clubs, more bars, and titty bars.

I spend time there when my brother was a Marine and I was in College at LA Valley College. I love San Diego too, but nobody I know can afford to live there, alone. When I lived in California (Southern CA - College (80-81) and Northern CAl - Work (98-99, the rents were so high that everyone needed a roommate. LOL.

Your SO Lucky, I live up in Wisconsin, all my life. Its about 20degrees right now, in January it hits -20 gets dark at 4: 30 pm. We still have lots of snow but that will change later this month (hopefully) I have never been to the warmer states so I Loved seeing this video, Thank You!

I live in and love O’side. The temps are much warmer than the 70s in the summer, not sure where you got that. Chill place and if you haven’t been lately you just don’t know. Hopefully it won’t get too bourgeois, we don’t need another Newport.

Great video I’ve always wondered what Ocean Side was like. Been near enough times lol, my favorite is Laguna Beach. I’ve been to other beaches in Cali but I love going back to laguna. Catalina island is well worth the trip for the day or stay over.

I lived in Oceanside on a hill near the post office. 1977 It was totally devoted to Marines back in the day. (Camp Pendleton) I don't see how you visit Oceanside and not mention the biggest Marine Base in the United States

I use 2 live about an hour from San Diego & 5 miles from Huntington Beach. I bet that place was expensive W/D how awsum is that. Swimming is the best exercise & so refreshing too! U 2 cuties have fun & be safe.

For me personally I would rather live in one of your run down dying towns than California. That would be a nightmare to me. Nothing appeals. Full of air heads. Crazy busy. Slab city would be more appealing.

If this was posted a day ago, come south to SD and then take a trip east and I would love to talk. your socio-cultural observations have the sublime beauty of an brilliant 9 year-old articulating his world.

I'm from oside, lots has changed. The orange countification continues year after year for the whole of sd. It will be unrecognizable in 5 years. I'm grateful to be from the area but also happy to leave.

Love this video, really cool content, I drive thru oceanside all the time but don't have time to visit it like you showed in this video so I really enjoyed it very cool NICE hotel room wow

She was commenting on how cool the temps are in the summer. People go the SOCAL beaches to get away from the heat of summer and people go to Florida to get away from the cold of winter.

Back in the New Deal-era they would have projects to employ artists, today if you have any creative endeavors you can get yourself a job on the floor at Walmart or Amazon immediately!
reply

You should do a tour of San Diego county’s little mom and pop taco shops. They’re in practically every strip mall and the food is so good you’ll never wanna eat crappy Tex Mex again!

Lovely hotelroom with oceanview. Appreciate the content in your videos - and very interesting with the information of povertyline, income, age and so on. Thank you both for your work!

We hope to get to explore the states like yall are someday. You see some amazing stuff. Those statues at the mission are awesome. Keep the video's coming. #swervycrew Ken and Vanessa

Ocean slime. That's what they used to call it. It's a really dumpy military town as everybody else is pointed out, although it used to be the party capital of San Diego
reply

Place has been crazy developed, I live about half an hour away and used to frequent the beaches there. I actually like taking the Amtrak from Oceanside to LA for concerts.
reply

Oceanside has a beautiful beach and a beautiful pier. Back in the 60's it was a rough Marine Corps Military town. Today--lots of good eateries and shops. Nice review.

I'm up north with a bunch of rain. Miramar is Top Gun. I was in VFA-113 sent a few jets and Pilots to learn there. Was a good time. Awe No Cats

That mission looks like quite the spot to see. This is a place that looks worth the visit. Glad you had a good time. Those tacos looked amazing!

Oceanside was home early 70s while married to my handsome marine. Lived on beach just steps from the ocean. My how it's changed lol.

This reminds of Tom Waits song: Diamonds On My Windshield.
Oceanside, it ends the ride, with Sacramento coming up.

UP THERE among TYLER of TEXAS and LAYFAYETTE of LOUISIANA as the nicest towns i have seen so far in your videos.

Like you, whenever I travel I always look at the architecture. My guess is that you studied geography in university

Just love this. Just like I am on a scenic trip. Think we were here in 1948. Came down coast of California.
