For many years the Dewey Bridge was the only way to cross the river on 128. It was a very old one lane wooden suspension bridge and crossing it was quite the experience. I lived in Denver from mid 1980 to late 1985, and every Memorial Day weekend we'd head for the Moab area. We came to regard the bridge as that point in the drive where we said "Well, we're here at last! ". It was a sort of 'entrance gate' to this wonderful area. I understand that the fire was caused by a little boy playing with matches. His parents had left him unattended for just a few minutes but that was all the time it took for disaster.

My first time on this road was in 1975. Traveling in the opposite direction. On the way to Moab.
Saw on the map that this road followed the river and we thought that’s probably nice.
Had no idea how nice.

At 37: 20 minutes you can see how erosion has affected the upper portion of the mountains. Awesome. Thank you so much: D

All the people who pass on a double line. On those curves way too risky. Very selfish people.
