Dixie finishes up the Whites and heads to Maine. Scott: ! 8 plus through the Whites is very respectable, way. I have enjoyed your videos, just great. I started backpacking back in the 70's and the first place was in the Whites, we make it up there a few times a year. Best hike of my life was four years ago with my daughter who was ten at the time, we hiked the presidential s, the weather was perfect. I have hiked all but one of four thousand footers in N H there are forty-eight of them. I have not completed that last one because I plan on finishing the last one with my daughter who is well on her way to getting them in the next couple of years. I know the trails are hard in the Whites but its pretty much all we know. We also hike and ski Mt Washington in the spring, good times. Take care

Oh man!
What an adventure!
Seeing your lights dim from episode 36/37 and watching exhaustion (physical and emotional) take its toll was pretty heart rending. My daughter is just a bit younger than you. I hope that she does such things on her own. at the same time I hope she does not. lol Worry wort fathers! : )
It was beautiful to see you summit under not so sturdy legs.
This old dog got all misty when you made it!
I hope this does not feel condescending, but I feel proud of you!
Thank you for taking us on this epic journey!
Much love, and more respect!

These videos have been great. Thanks, Dixie, for sharing your hike & showing me the AT from start to finish.
There is something I'd like to mention. It's really important to have good outerwear when hiking in the Whites at any time of year. On the Presidential Range, weather forecasts are not always reliable. That is speaking from personal experience. The wind can go to hurricane force, the temperature can fall and visibility can drop to ten yards very quickly. A good rain shell can save your life there. You were taking a chance with the Frog togs.

I love the bird feeding: ) The train looks cool: ) I started my culinary studies as a dish washer. lol Have fun. lol Thanks for the sunset, looks beautiful: ) Be safe on the rest of your journey. You're doing great! Btw, one of the things I secretly pray for is that one day I'll get to meet you. Looking forward to your next update. God Bless: )

wow. so THATS what the Whites look like from Washington. Been there 6 times, twice in rain, once in snow, thrice in misty, cloudy drizzly and very windy weather and have yet to get a view. so bee-u-ti-full! Damn. I hope that 3rd time (thru-hike) is the charm. Here's hoping that when I hit Washington in mid-august I will finally get a view.

Love the Gray Jays. My family has been seeing and feeding them in the Whites and north of the Whites for almost 10 years! Incredibly smart birds, I honestly think they can tell when a person is a decent person and not a threat, because they would take food from our family, but not others.

When I was in the Marines I had a really hard time getting rid of the B. O. as well. Next time try rubbing lemon juice and/or organic coconut oil on your arm pits. It works like a charm. And thank you so much for sharing your experiences with your adventures.

Re: body odor, is your nose just more sensitive now? Re: new shoes, could you just put in a new liner, strong ankles now, no need for lateral support? And did your (ogre LOL) feet increase in size, i. e. need to buy one size larger?

Gray Jays, Whiskey Jays like Iams mini kibbles. I have 5 around my place all day. One is incredible - talks and talks and hoots and hollers and tries to steal food from my two dogs. Fun. I feed them all winter.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Who would have thought New Hampshire has so many spectacular, awesome, sights? Vermont may be beautiful but New Hampshire is awesome.
