The Appalachian Trail: An Emotional Roller Coaster Jason: Dixie you are amazing I can't wait to see the pct and hope you will consider the CDt one day and become a triple crowner. If not then I really enjoy your homesteading stuff as well and would like to hear more about your gardening. I have been composting all year in the suburbs of Chicago and have rented a plot to do my first vegetable garden this spring and summer. I have the same story kind of growing up in rural southern Illinois watching my grandparents utilize the land they owned and now planting in the ground makes me feel closer to them now that they are gone.
Safe travels to you and best of luck!

Thanks for this. I completed a thru hike last year and had watched all your videos while I was getting ready for it. It's fun to listen to you talking about this now that I have experienced all of it myself. The Whites were definitely the hardest for me and I remember feeling so let down getting to Maine because, in many ways, those first few days in Maine were even more difficult than anything I experiences in the Whites. And, oh, the isolation of the 100 mile and the elation of touching that sign. Woot! I'll be watching you on the PCT. Hope to do it myself in the next few years. Have fun.

Dixie, you were the first thru hiker I found and followed and you are a big inspiration. I love your vids. I am in the planning and gear getting stages for 2018. Paying off my bills and saving money (12 month budget) so I can do it and not have many worries. Good Blessings on your PCT hike and I'll be watching and cheering you on. Please feel free to Sub me for 2018 and my AT hike! :-)

I'm the silent one! I've been watching ever since you began posting! Yes, I'm southern hAha! Old too! Anyways, so proud of you and will certainly follow the PCT adventure! I've done my share of backpacking and considerable summits in N. America and S. America too. Finally, I decided to post and say well done Dixie! You're a fine Southern lady and you'll kick ass on the PCT!

Girl I could listen to you all day, what inspiration! Now I got a question, I think you had mentioned you developed plantar fasciitis. My wife has it and not getting the best results from the dr. how did you deal with it and is it gone. You are the only one I know that has had this, at least the only one I trust with an answer. Thanks so much for your vids
