I had my first 20 mile day on this trip, and I'm reunited with Mom and Fancy! P. S. Youtube had a mind of it's own and this episode went public when it shouldn't have. Sorry if you got cut off while watching it! And sorry if your comment disappeared. My PCT Fire Closure Gear List: My Mom's Gear List: My Dog's Gear List

Grief is love with nowplace to go Profound Dixie! Thanks for impacting my life. I know from my own experience that we are created in God's image and we are designed to be relational. For me, My relationship with Christ is most important and he was the master of relationships. My thoughts were that that lost love we call grief, He asks us to give it to Him!
Once again, Thanks for impacting my life. Doing a kayak camping adventure this weekend but back on trail when it cools off down in SC.
ps. was thru Opalika on my way to Houston last weekend!

I had not really thought too much about the trees that were cut and moved along the Foothills Trail which was our first backpacking trip a few weeks ago. But after watching a video of a gentleman who had hiked the same trail just a few months earlier I was soooooo thankful for those who maintain the trail! Because the trail was hard enough without all those road blocks! I can not imagine trying to get my Mom and kids through the mess that was there before the clean up.

In the middle of moving. trying to figure out if I want to rent or buy. have a deadline. then this video pops up on my feed this morning, and for about fifteen minutes I am lifted gently back into the wilderness. and the Pacific Northwest Rain. ahhhhhhh. Thanks, Dixie. I really, genuinely, needed that.

I loved this video! Thank you for sharing the bit about love and grief. It really opened my eyes. I was thinking it could apply to places, experiences, and hobbies. If you put lots of energy into something, and then have to move, or change something, you can miss it! Just like hiking again!

Dixie, it appears as though you may be wearing an inReach mini. Kindly comment on security beacons sometime please. They are a little bit expensive, and require a subscription, but I think they would be worth the cost if one is backpacking alone. I am a novice backpacker. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing your adventures.
These videos are fun and inspiring to watch.
I'm hoping to hike the JMT next summer, it would be my first long trip in decades and I've been learning a great deal about how to prepare thanks to your videos and advice.

Hey Dixie, I saw in one of your videos you had a notebook I assume you used as a trail journal. I would love to know how you logged your trip, what you documented and all the notes you made as well as tips on how to keep a trail journal. Thx, Hike On!

Loved my 7 month PCT thru hike in '85 - life experience I wouldn't trade for anything. Liked it so much, I went on to hike the AT and CDT as well as the AZ and FL trails. Long distance hiking is almost a life changing experience. Go for it!

Great video, Dixie! Lots of meaningful stuff in there, as well as beautiful scenes. love the synthesizer music along with it. :-) I wish my mom and I got on as well as you and your mom seem to. Cherish that bond.

Having a great day! Cleaning house and stopping to watch you're beautiful scenery and then --- you made that statement about grief and love ---- it struck me so hard that I broke down in tears!
