My PCT Fire Closure Gear List: My Mom's Gear List: My Dog's Gear List: Sean: When I was undergoing Officer training for the Army, we pretty much all had blisters. A friend's mother, who was a Nurse saw me limping on a weekend about 5 weeks in and put me onto this, which I absolutely swear by. In the UK the brand is called Compeed, and the product is 'second skin'. The reason blisters hurt so much is because air gets to the unformed skin underneath, and also it is ultra sensitive. Removing (carefully) the dead top layer, the second skin sticks directly over the top. No real need for anything else. it sticks to the skin, has a gel cushion, and you leave it on, I have had them on for up to a week. By the time they come off, the skin underneath is peachy. Easy to apply, instant relief and you can carry on pretty much instantly.
For blister prevention, I've heard people swear by wearing two pairs of socks. The first pair are typically 'silk' socks, very thin, and the outer pair are your normal woollen hiking socks.

When hiking with a dog with her/his own bags I usually find it more practical that I myself carry the dog-food and that the dog helps me out with some of my spare clothes instead. That way the bags are always balanced and I don't have to shuffle stuff around each time a bag of food is consumed.
Hiking with dogs is wonderful!

One of my greyhounds used to do that every. single. day at 5 pm. He would run around the perimeter of the yard at full speed. Run, run, run until my other grey would bark just once ordering him to stop. He stopped at once after this command and then he was good until the next day. I LOVED it.

Totally laughing my freaking ass off! Watching Fancy slide around around on the snow was a riot. That is the kind of joy all humans should aspire to. Thank you Dixie for once again sharing the beauty of the outdoors. Love from Texas yall!

Bummer on the phone and data recovery! I know that can get expensive. Thanks for sharing your story. Maybe you can backup your iPhone to iCloud and not worry about it?
