The 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo Isn't Quite A Maverick ST. But It's Close.

For 2025 Ford didn't just toss an AWD hybrid under the body of their plucky little pickup, they decided it's time for a performance trim as well. Behold, the new Maverick Lobo! Ford is calling this a street performance truck but the main thing to know is that it doesn't get more power. On the other hand Ford says that it will be swifter 0-60 thanks to it's 7-speed automatic which shifts faster and spends less time shifting in a 0-60 run. The Lobo also gets Ford's twin-clutch torque vectoring rear axle, an extra drive mode to send more power to the back for closed circuit use, a lowered suspension, beefier strut towers from a Mach E, a steering rack from an Euro-market Ford Kuga, upgraded ST brakes (but not ST pads, and of course interior and exterior styling tweaks like the very-Volvo grille and the Mercedes Maybach 1980s wheels. It'll come in two different trim levels: Standard for $35, 000 and High for $40, 495. You'll want the high trim if you want the moonroof, trailer assist tech, 360 camera, heated steering wheel and seats, and the adaptive cruise control package.

I usually judge a package by the amount of things I could add after I buy the vehicle. So if the package is wheels and stickers and painting you can always change those things later. This does seem like a well put together package. The transmission, brakes rear end aren't things that are things you can change out after you buy one. I just wish first could have kept the price down in the 20s it's what was extra amazing about the first one. I had a f150 I wasn't particularly impressed with so I'm a little gun shy about getting another Ford. The only upgrade I would like to do without would be the electronics it's all available in the phone in my pocket. Would almost like a model with a double din blank in the dash where you could add your own or not.

Arizona and California residents have seen the occasional Lobo-branded Mexican F-150 for years. It's fun they've extended the name to the US. Great look, including the wheels. The deletion of a gear from the automatic is an interesting decision, as the 8-speed was already a GM-Ford joint venture 9-speed with a gear removed. Is it truly a performance maneuver, or mainly a cost saving one I'm waiting for the 3-speed SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic.

If I may give some constructive feedback; I'd love more info as to what the video is about on the video title or thumbnail. Like, Ford Maverick Lobo First look and Impressions or something so we know what to expect! Excellent video though as usual, love the new mavericks were getting minus those tires LOL.

The changes are a lot more extensive than I expected and the name is not what I expected but. Eh lol I think Ford knew which uhm demographic would really like this setup. It would have been cool to see the 2. 3L. EB in this but for the price and ofher changes I think it's an exciting package.

I think the maverick is getting entirely too expensive. Ford, like everyone else is increasing the price far higher and faster then inflation. Love the mini truck vibes, should have more power though. It's an ST, but without the power increase

The Maverick came out in 2022 and I’ve only seen a handful of these out on the road driving. I assume the same is gonna be for this next refresh model another handful in the next four years

Why is it that there are so many off-road trucks out there, when most people dive on pavement more than they drive off-road

Not a fan of Ford adding $10K to a mid-20K truck spec. Trying to exploit one of their winner vehicles to offset their EV losses and expensive aluminoid full sized trucks methinks.

I like this new version but with all the extras Ford added to the truck, it’ll be priced similarly to the Honda Ridgeline RTL-E (not the Black Edition version.

Alex, Are you suggesting we have insufficient numbers of 'Lifestyle' pickups in this market or is it a just case of the wrong blend of lifestyle pickups
reply

Lobo could have been a cool name for special edition mustang or bronco but no. this should have been the ST and the tremor should have been a raptor.

What is the current suspicion on the power loss from the current Maverick Did Ford implement a gasoline particulate filter in these or something
reply

I know cost is king, use what's there on the shelf but a bigger e-motor and battery setup and it's even quicker with better mpg. But not cheap.

Lost me at $35k.
I'd just get a hybrid, do a suspension drop and my choice of wheels and tires. Will still be under $27k.
