The Lexus UX was designed for Europe primarily but because Americans are addicted to crossovers, Lexus decided to send us two variants: the UX 200 and the UX 250h, a pair of high-efficiency subcompact crossovers designed to be the Lexus alternative to a host of luxury competition from the Q3, X1, X2 and XC40 to the lifted-hatches Infiniti and Mercedes. Does the UX have what it takes to be a winner in this segment? Lets find out

Thats not an attractive looking crossover AT ALL, not in the least bit. Its basically a Toyota with a Lexus badge except for the Toyota probably looks better and is less expensive. The Germans are the least of Lexus worries. Cadillac is definitely coming for that number 1 spot and it looks like Lexus is laying across the railroad tracks for them I was rooting for Lexus, I expected A LOT more from this brand. I do like some interior parts in this UX like the digital gauge but I feel the XT4s interior and exterior styling overall has outdone it just as I predict the driving experience in the XT4 will be superior to the one in this UX. Id consider the XC40 in comparison to this Lexus but I wouldnt dare purchase a Volvo over a GM or Lexus product mainly out of the concern for dependability. On the other hand, GMs reliability is pretty good which means Toyota can no longer solely rely on that to push sales over the competition (Cadillac. Lexus is beginning to get way too comfortable. Theyre way too bland and outdated to even be considered luxurious anymore especially for the money.

Great review Alex as always. For the life of me though I cant think of one reason to buy this car. Gutless crossovers are a dime a dozen these days in the U. S. I didnt know that the UX is a replacement for the Lexus CT; with that information I can at least see why the UX would be so underpowered. The CT was basically a Prius made by Lexus, and I found it attractive for a time. But this is 2018 and I would think if you really want an economy-minded crossover, the Kia Niro would be a much better choice. It would be thousands less than this Lexus and it would be more efficient; I believe Alex you said the Niro was one of the more efficient cars youve tested. One may think the UX is a completely different car than the Niro, but honestly except for brand recognition and some more gadgets and nicer interior in the UX, in the real world I really dont think the differences between these vehicles would be that noticeable. Especially comparing the UX with a fully loaded Niro. Im really not too impressed by Lexus crossovers so far.

I love it, and dont care that it has less HP and legroom than the Euro-lame competition. First off, its a Lexus which is the undisputed King of refinement and enduring reliability, which will always take me to Lexus, and not Audi, as tempting as they are. Audi will cost more to maintain, and give u stress after a year or two when something breaks. The UX is a lower built crossover and gives the lineup a break from its many SUVs. and is a perfect replacement for the retired CT250, which I still love. The interior is perfect for 4, but as most all drivers, each day is a solitary time of peace and exaltation. The master engineering and arcade like infotainment screen and controls, complete the rush of a perfectly made car that revels.

I dont understand what Lexus is trying to do segregating markets with too many variants each with 3-5 trims. I dont see the point of Lexus IS when we have Lexus CT and lexus ES. And the Lexus GS is redundant if we have ES and LS. In fact why waste time in low performance models like CT and IS when they have equally compelling and luxoriuos Camry in sister company. Again why 4 variants is crossover, SUV section UX, NX, RX, RXL. Two of them is pretty redundant. Then there is RC, LC, LFA. Toyota Supra falling at where RC is. ?

Fantastic review of the new Lexus UX. Im currently driving the Lexus CT200h and thrilled with its 42mpg - delighted to see that the larger and more comfortable UX is going to offer the same mpg and perhaps a bit more. Agree that the amber turn signals are much more likely to be seen here in the U. S. Also LOVE the integration with Apples carplay system. As an Apple user, Ill now have a seamless transition from home to iPhone to Lexus. Looking forward to test driving the hybrid model of the UX in January 2019.

I drive the 200 CT, super excited for this model. Got distracted at the gym to look at the specs on this. Is it just me tho or does the side view look similar to Subaru? But nothing beats that Lexus grill and Im so glad they updated the safety features and the interior cockpit which is my favorite part of the car. I feel like a pilot ready for lift off every time I drive. Im happy they finally added the memory setting seats adjustments as well.

Sadly new Lexus and Toyota designs gone downhill some what, it strikes me designers deliberately choose a weird looking car with less and less practicallyBy placing the battery in the boot instead of at the base, the boot space is badly compromised, steer wheel lowered so taller driver has difficulty to settle comfortably. It reminds me of of Nokia ignored the changes and psid a hefty price. Now its Toyota and Lexus turn to repeat the mistake

I dont see any reason why most cars being built today arent mostly hybrid+turbocharged-small-engines, automatics, all wheel drive. Also, I dont see my android-auto/apple-carplay is available by default on all cars being built today -- at no extra charge. Auto-companies are just simply short-sighted, withholding basic features.

I have watched plenty of Lexus UX reviews so far on YouTube and almost all reviewers were not excited at all about this vehicle. It felt like they had written off this car right from the start. You, however, gave it a chance and reviewed it more objectively and thoroughly than any other reviewer I went to see. Thanks. :)

I have always liked the red turn lights the American cars have. As a person who does not live in the US, this feeling might be cause of not having that as an option here. But yes, I have always loved the red turn signals be it on a Mustang or an Chevrolet Caprice Classic. Thank you. Hope you all have a good day
