It's here, the all new 6th generation Rav4! Electrified is the only way forward and you can either get the 5th generation Hybrid system (in Front of All Wheel Drive) or the new PHEV powertrain (AWD only. There's a shake up amongst trim levels and we now have 2 new trims with specific but differing focuses; on road (GR Sport) and off road (Woodland. If you want the new GR Sport you'll find that only available in PHEV but the Woodland (though only in AWD) can be had in either HEV or PHEV. We'll have to wait for fuel economy numbers till later. We do know about power outputs and it's either 226 (HEV FWD, 236 (HEV AWD, and 320 (PHEV AWD. We also get a 20% increase in EV range on the PHEV for an estimated 50 miles. Availability will be later this year and pricing will come closer to that time. #toyota #rav4 #2026toyotarav4 #hybrid #hev #pluginhybrid #phev #awd #gr #grsport #woodland

Ya know Cadillac gets a lot of comments from trolls about their displays being too large and how big screens doesn't equal premium or make the cabin feel nice or luxurious but the automaker that deserves these critiques is Toyota who clearly thinks a dark, bland, cheap looking interior is elevated somehow if you throw in a big glued in tablet to the dashboard. Tp make katters worse they're even doing this with the Lexus brand. Less intricate and high quality feeling/looking materials and larger bulkey screens with a new underwhelming software. Cadillac doesn't deserve that criticism because their interior material choices around their displays are luxurious and executed in a way that makes their interiors feel and look very expensive. The materials are just as nice as the large displays. Toyota needs to get it together. They must be making record profits. This is proof that certain manufacturers are graded on a curve while others are held to much higher standards.

I think this was an awesone update, they updated all the major stuff especially on the interior, the new changes are welcome. I like the new looks as well, the rear end of the GR Sport reminds me of those 90's boxy sporty SUV's which I think is all kinds of fantastic. The powertrains are pretty impressive as well, no other company out there does hybrids as well as Toyota. I recently drove a last gen limited hybrid and I was very impressed with the power, fuel economy and smoothness of the drivetrain. I expect this one to be even better, I mean we get more power and better MPG's, it is a win-win situation. The fact that the PHEV has 320hp is also amazing. If I am remembering correctly, that makes it the most powerful mainstream CUV in the segment. I think the size is also perfect, over 650, 000 units were sold last year, so why mess with a winning formula, if you need something bigger, Toyota will gladly sell you a Crown Signia or Highlander.

What I found interesting from one of their presentation is that they combined their DC/DC converter, Power Control Unit (PCU, Inverter and AC charger into the transaxle which already includes the planetary power-split-gearset as well as the traction motor and motor-generator. This kind of consolidation and miniaturization is something the Chinese BYD have done in their EVs (so-called 8-in-1 or whatever which makes them cost-effective and cheaper-to-produce) but not on their PHEV DM-i. Toyota flipped the script and they incoprated that design philosophy on their hybrid system. This means either Toyota can now make more PHEV and HEV cheaper or higher profit margin.
Despite what BYD propagandists would have u believe, Toyota has the superior hybrid system architecture. BYD's hybrid is more similar to Honda's architecture

Very disappointing1. Exterior: Nothing says Toyota; not a fan2. Interiorfor a GR, that complete drab grey hard plastic look is absolutely terribleand really The mode buttons are the biggest buttons on the dash And they are absolutely ugly to boot. Bring back the nice big HVAC dials with the rubberized knobsand the rest of the interior, can we add some color The one stripe of red piping does nothingand as for the engine, unless they’ve done something to change the sound of the 4 cylinder, it’s th worst sounding engine on the planethad a Prime for about 9 months, but that engine sound wore me down and I wound up selling it

The interior is disappointing. The dash is terrible. Glare city. The center stack with reduced physical controls and obnoxiously boxy touchscreen is annoying. The move to an electronic shifter in some trims is disappointing. Looks like the front passenger seat in most trims still lacks height adjustability.
Toyota's hybrid power train is great (outstanding fuel economy. That is the biggest competitive advantage. I like the new Subaru Outback's interior a lot better than this new RAV4. I also like the current gen CR-V a lot better than this new RAV4.

None of these new Toyota hybrids increase gas mileage. What a total waste. No one needs 320hp in this little suv. And they have basically no small vehicles left with a basic n/a gasoline engine.
I guess my 2021 Corolla with the 1. 8L will be my last Toyota. Btw it has only 138hp and takes me everywhere and can cruise at any speed limit in the United States all day long. Again, who needs a small little car sized suv with 320hp How about give it 20 more miles per gallon and 150 less hp

Based on tail gate opening and the lights flashing, it looks like the brake light and turn signal are the exact same light Is that right If so: super idiotic from Toyota. Why do manufacturers continue to have the most intricate lighting systems just to lazily use all the lighting area for two functions Especially when for every other country they have to do amber signals. Can someone in the review space start commenting on that providing negative feedback to the manufacturers

I was extremely interested in this video until I noticed that I did not have any exhaust pipes. These car manufacturers don't realize that the absence of exhaust pipes not only change the profile of the vehicle but it changes the perception of the vehicle. If you are going to make a conventional vehicle make it conventional. If you are going to make a vehicle without exhaust pipes make it electric. A hybrid still uses petro/fuel.

I have a 2025 woodland. It great for what it does but the interior is lacking. The passenger seat is a joke. Trying to get into the passenger seat at 6 foot is a challenge seat sits way up and can’t be lowered. Never thought about that when I bought it, who would I have owned 60 cars and never had an issue like this. But a hybrid for 35k that’s a decent size suv can’t expect too much

Looks perfectly acceptable, maybe slightly less utilitarian and less eclectic than my 2017 Forester. I would like a plugin model, probably of the Woodland version, as most of my driving will be less than 50 miles. My big concern is availability, will the local Toyota dealerships actually have plugin hybrids and will they be charging six figures for them for profiteering
reply

This looks promising, but the question will be how it drives, and whether or not Arene will be worth it for future Toyotas.
From the C-pillar back it looks like the last 2 generations of RAV4 mixed together, while the front end looks like it was meant for the Forester. But that 4Runner-style grille on the Woodland doesn’t mesh well with the hammerhead look.

I like the styling of the front, looks great. The rear unfortunately looks like a Nissan Rogue. It's not bad but I would have liked to have seen a little bit of a more angular design like the front, seems a tad mismatched. Overall, it's fine and they will continue to sell gobs of them
reply

Disappointing. They changed absolutely nothing about its biggest weakness, rear legroom = space for child seats. A deal breaker for many, the only reason why MANY buyers don't buy one and they do nothing about it. All they needed to do was 1 more wheelbase. FAIL.
reply

Front end is like an evolution of the 5th gen styling similar to the new camry and prius, but the rear end reminds me a lot of the 4th gen rav4 that was more minivan shaped in the rear. It's like they put a 4th gen and a 5th gen together and gave it futuristic styling.
reply

Looks like a Nissan Rogue from the 3/4 view and from the back. the grill on the sport should be standard on all of them. the main deal breaking question for me: Are the front seats lower so an average size guy can actually get into the vehicle without twisting his neck
reply

I have to say I’m disappointed. An opportunity missed on the styling. The front is indistinguishable, nothing stands out. The rear looks like they were going for a 1/3 Grand Highlander. The proportions are way off. Lots of better looking options out there.
reply

Not sure what Toyota interior designers were thinking, its crazy to see 4 drive mode related physical buttons (Drive Mode, EV Mode, Snow Trail, Normal) in place of the previous HVAC knobs & switches! Who switches drive modes more than HVAC settings
reply

Just as I kept saying everywhere the rav4 like the es was such a letdown
The crv Sportage tuscon cx5 cx50 rogue Tiguan are already way better options
So where’s your Naveens a Toyota hater or naveen owns a Camry comments now huh

reply

Nice evolution of the RAV4 line. Toyota interiors a bit behind the competition. I know, they want you to buy a Lexus for a nicer interior. A sport RAV4 is funny, it's a very good transportation appliance, nothing more, nothing less.
reply

Front very bad compared to current generation. side profile and back not great. Looks similar to other brands Skoda Kodiaq or Opel ones. Big chance of getting it flop. I expected a distinct, appealing design similar to bz4x.
