Looking forward to the new hamster commercials. Im not sure about the demographic profile of Soul owners looks like but based solely (sorry) on what I see on the streets, its extremely broad, ranging from 20-somethings to seniors. Expanding the range of offerings is only going to add to that. Clearly KIA (and Hyundai) is doubling down on EV propulsion. With a range of over 200 miles it means owners dont have to recharge every night. And that is a VERY big deal. It transforms the vehicle from a pure urban commuter to a mid-range weekend tripper. And with over 200 HP and nearly 300 ft lbs of torque, its a subcompact with some serious oomph. The Soul has always been a remarkably versatile vehicle owing largely to its boxy, funky shape. It largely matches or exceeds the cargo capacity and passenger room of the Honda HR-V at seven inches shorter in overall length. (The Toyota CHR trails each) And its not just interior capacity. The boxy shape adds to its versatility in terms of what (and who) can be packed into it. Its a vehicle that can transport four adults and their luggage in relative comfort for a weekend trip. Thats impressive. It is somewhat disappointing that KIA isnt offering AWD for the Soul. But considering the likely mission of the vehicle, its probably not a significant negative for most buyers. All in all, it looks like KIA has another winner.

The new trim levels are: LX, S, X-Line, GT-Line, EX and EX Designer Collection. According to the KIA website (they have an Excel file you can download with the options. All except the GT have the 2 Liter engine. The LX is the Manual transmission. the EX, and EX Designer models replace the Plus editions. The X-Line is similar to an EX except it has 18-inch tires (the EXs have 17 inch. There is a 2 liter GT version in addition to the Turbo option. The LX and S have 16 inch tires and replace the base edition manual and automatic models. They all feature an actual temporary spare tireOnly the GT models offer a sunroof (no panoramic roof is offered)Heated front seats are standard in the EX and GT Turbo (but not the 2 liter GT)A 7-inch screen with Apple car play and Android Auto on ALL models except the EX and Turbo GT which get the 10 inch WITH NAVIGATIONSpeaker lights are only on the Turbo and are not an option for any other model. Blind spot warning is on all but LX and GT 2 liter models, though it is an option for the GT 2 Liter. The heads-up display is only on the Turbo GT

I was really excited for this 2020 Kia Soul, as I currently own a 2018 Kia Soul Base with the 6-Speed Automatic Transmission and absolutely love it. Its way bigger than I ever thought it would be (given its exterior dimensions) and is easy and comfortable to live with. However, as a current Kia Soul owner, Im really disappointed in the design for this 2020 Soul. Theres to much going on for my taste and those taillights are ENORMOUS. I mean, the taillights on my 2018 Soul are already big enough as is so these taillights take it to a whole different level (and not in a good way. Everybody has there own taste but I will definitely be waiting until Kia Refreshes this generation of the soul to trade in my current soul

Love my 2015 KIA Soul EV. Cant wait to upgrade to the new extended range model. My current 2015 is by far the best car I have ever owned with ZERO problems. Owned a wide variety of stink pots in the past with varying degrees of high maintenance costs, depending on make and model, so it amazes my why anyone would want to continue driving these noisy vibrating dinosaurs. Even with the current higher initial cost of ownership of an EV, the much lower running cost and very low maintenance, more than offsets the purchase price. Driving a stink pot just does not make any sense. EVs are so smoooooth and so much torque

i completely concur with the consensus - the design is not an improvement over the previous generation which i believe really hit the sweet spot. the tail lights are hideous and appear to be an afterthought. i was really hoping kia would keep this as a sort of classic or legacy model in the vein of wranglers et al with improvements generally focused on the drivetrain. i really want to like this version for the EV option but might have to consider the e-niro or kona ev based on looks anyway. hanging on to my gen 2 in the meantime: -)

LOVE that heads-up reminds me of the Mini. I always felt that this had a Mini sensibility in a rather odd way in terms of its uniqueness. My wife currently drives BMWs i3 and this might be worth considering for next year as a viable alternative, although the jury is still out as to the ride quality comparisons. Our i3 has been a joy, however quirky its styling and only offering around 130 miles (plus 50 more with the optional range extender. Ive aways liked the Soul and as always, great review, Alex

Dont know think the look is off somehow. Not cute not rugged not normal? Had a first gen with the 1. 6 gdi liked it alot quirky but good look and my wife wanted it because of the alian green color. Great mpg roomy and well equipt for a bargain basment price with super warranty thats a winning formula. Seems they keep betting farther from it as they make new generations of it. Think sales are not going to hold.

Ive had my eye on the Soul since 2012 but my Honda sales rep keep offering me good deals when my CRV leases are up. One thing Ive continued to make note of however is that Im seeing more and more Souls in northern canada so Im getting more confident in their ability to handle well in the snow with a good set of snow tires and start reliably when temps go below -25 celcius

I actually like the GT. My wife owns a 12 Soul and i like it. Its a very convenient car, yeah, its ugly on the outside but it has enough soul to be a very good car. This one only seems better. There are 2 things i dont like: The horrible taillights. not a deal breaker but are ugly as hell and the thing that really makes me shake my head: no AWD version. WTF Kia?

I like the interior design. I do not like most of the wheels. Hyundais, Kias, Hondas and Subarus come with some ugly ass wheels. Maybe get a red Soul so the strange tail lights blend in better. They had to add the trendy floating back pillars. I would consider repainting them myself to match the body paint color.
