Volkswagens Passat hasn been a huge player in the American mid-size market but VW isn giving up on us. Instead they have given the Passat they designed especially for America a redesign for 2020 with a new exterior and interior to bring things up to date and give it a fresher and more luxurious look, something that a few shoppers thought was lacking in 2018. Does this make the Passat an Accord killer? Not quite, but the Passat does boat a much more comfortable back seat than the average family sedan for 2020

ive owned passats since 2006. that was great. then the 2013. a cost reduced one. . now this. .a vehcile really with minor cosmetic changes, less power on the engine, same transmission, ugly interior. . I was blown away in 2005 when i first got inside the cab of one of the first ones. then having a passat meant a technological superior car built in Germany, a low budget audi. .it is clear they are trying then to sell some more audis now. . I was hoping for someting better. . In 2016 i switched to Chevrolet from VW due to the passat not being updated enough(just being a small 2013 update). now with this I think I will look elsewhere again waiting for a true replacement of a model that should be much more than what they have done to it since being build in USA.

I bought a passat because its cheapest turbocharged sedan you can buy, led lights comes on mid level trim. The good is minimal turbo lag with 1. 8t, very responsive torque converter. Some attention to detail is very good. Downside is slow steering ratio, ride like a boat with a lot of road noise. Pretty mid pack car nothing exceptional, however, you wont get anything better than a passat without spending more money

Wow. in 2020 and still boring look. Why cant they bring the european interior passat. Have u seen new european passat. its such a nice appointed interior. Y is ths screen still low. It should be at eye level. Why is the dashboard lights still red. Red is horrible at night time. And why is there no parking light switch. Its just off, auto and on for headlight switch. Ugh i feel disappointed. And no TFT screen?

We had a 2015 passat, the seating position as opposed to the pedals was horrible. I could never get comfy driving it and if I had to drive any distance it literally felt back breaking. I was told it was due to it being built off of the jetta platform and they had just stretched it without really placing everything properly for a bigger, wider car. I wonder if thats still an issue?

Looks like a placeholder awaiting the availability of the Arteon. Sad to see the demise of the short-lived 2018 Passat GT with its V6 and dual clutch transmission. It was a halfhearted effort to give US VW dealerships something to sell against the new generation Accords and Camrys but it was a great value with an MSRP under 30K and a real world price under 25K.

The only true VW left is the Arteon and the Golf family. Dont get me started on how awful this redesign is, and thats coming from a VW fanboy. on top of that, well be stuck with it for at least another 3 years. Then what? A 4th redesign? VW better get us their ID electric range UNTOUCHED and the same as in Europe

It is like a larger version of new Jetta. Overall exterior design is acceptable but the center console is outdated, prefer the China version one where infotainment system was place same level as instrument just like new Jetta. The US version infotainment position is same as old B8 passat which look outdated.
reply

Really Alex? They barely even tried here and your review is WAY too optimistic. Both the outside and inside are a TOTAL LET DOWN on a platform thats almost TEN YEARS OLD and the infotainment system is NOT the one used on the latest GTI, Jetta, or Arteon to name a few.

Really. I had quite a few VWs back in Europe. And this is based on the bones of 2008 Skoda Superb which is by far better car. Overall, no hood insulation, metal stick, cheap plastic and tons of plastic chrome. How can I unsee this.
