2020 Toyota Highlander Refining The 3-Row SUV

The new 2020 Highlander doesn't change Toyota's winning formula of making a right sized three row alternative to big SUVs in America but it does add a welcome dollop of refinement. The new model has arguably one of the most premium interiors in the segment, a huge LCD entertainment system and a sleek new design. On the downside, it has become more expensive in the process

Highlander comes with a lot of standard features and creature comforts, the styling will hinder the driving. A major problem with small side mirrors and bulbous rounded grill/ fender arches is not knowing lane placement, it seems to have followed the Sienna wind tunnel design. Going to be quite a few people Parking by Braille and ripping off chin spoilers. Atlas has Black, Shetland Beige or Golden Oak w/ black trim interior choices. Has a higher ground clearance that wont be as affected by parking by braille and looses only a couple mpg but gains much more room inside. The out going Highlander seems like the one to buy.

Hi Alex - great review as always Does Toyota have the TPMS on this Highlander yet? I didn't see it when you were scrolling through the info - can't believe it STILL isn't in the RAV4 I've been waiting to see the Highlander because I've been between it and the RAV - I don't like that at the Limited level the RAV doesn't have the power passenger seat either. I know this is the Highlander review, but you mentioned you have a RAV4 - do you like it? Thanks again, you do such a terrific job.

Is the turbocharged reliability STILL an issue, or do car reviewers simply keep say this every time automatically. I have a 2010 3. 5 ecoboost with 103K on it and NEVER have had an issue with this motor. I have family member with the Ford F150, same engine, well over 200K on it. Hard miles on the ranch as well. so is this fair?

In a comparison test against vehicles like the Telluride and Palisade, the Highlander will lose due to sizeIf it wee the same size, it would probably win, with its lower cost of ownership and Hybrid option, etc. Toyota is building what their 250, 000 annual buyers want. A better, but smaller 3-row crossover

Choosing the Highlander V6 results in an ELEVEN mpg loss compared to the Hybrid. That is a big PENALTY to pay over the typical 20 year lifespan of a Highlander. The Hybrid meets all the rational needs of a family with a small reduction in 0-60 acceleration and towing capacity.

Crazy that in 2020 a Toyota looks cheaper than a KIA/Hyundai. I really feel Toyota is on the early path of the doomed Cadillac road. Great brand/quality for decades but have gotten lazy and afraid of any real risks. Outside of the RAV4 this brand has no evolution going on.

That pronounced line and hump on the side of the rear wheels is the same take as the first gen Matrix. For this size, I need a more powerful engine. Why didn't they adapt the same power as the one that's gonna be offered on the RAV4 PHEV? Overall, I love how it looks.

Hey Alex. Did u check by any chance where the car was made from? I hope you add this segment on your videos. It would def help a lot especially for people who are very specific where the car is made from

It looks way better now than the out going model its more elegant execpt the back they need to put a chrome tip exhaust. I hate how the muffler is showing at back and not even hidden just a little.

Toyota makes the worst-looking cars on the market. It's like a benign tumor in the middle of the face that cannot be cut out - ugliness that will be stuck with you for the rest of your life.
