Lexus is in dilemma. If they pack the new cars with new gadgets/technologies, then they would lose the crown of reliability. But if they continue to their cars with old technologies in order to keep the title for being reliable, they would lose customers, especially young customers. Right now, Lexus is really boring to drive. You do feel premium in a Lexus but not Luxury any more. Lexus is starting like Buick and Lincoln which attract older people more than young people. Now when you think about it. For the same price on the same class of vehicles, let's say the RX is about 50K. If this car would also be the same price as the RX, you'd get more stuffs for spending 50K. Lexus is actually more expensive than most competitors because you are just spending 50K for reliability from older technologies where other competitors like this one, the Mercedes GLE 350, BMW X4 and so on actually come with more newer stuffs/design and better performance.

I did watch the Korean release event on YT weeks ago, so Im very aware of the car. Genesis has to build out their stand alone dealerships. Period I went to a Hyundai dealership a few years ago to look at the G80 and couldnt stomach it and Im not some privileged guy. My point is Hyundai dealerships are really awful and the same sales people selling all the Hyundais (many of which are very good cars) were selling Genesis. The problem was they knew far less than I did about the car and didnt really seem to care about making the sale. This arent fake air vents. Theyre lights and meant to match the size and lines of the rear and front lights.

I'm thinking they're targeting China with this, Hyundai has struggled in China and they haven't invested nearly enough in the dealer network it brand for the US to be their primary target. I quite like the exterior, but not a fan of the interior design. It looks a little technopop or something, just not my cup of tea. It's unique in the segment I guess since the Germans and Lexus tend to be conservative

Hey Alex, great review. That Genesis has a gorgeous interior. Good job handling the crazy public atmosphere with people walking into & mindlessly through your shot Kudos to your cameraman as well. As a corporate trainer who presents to large audiences from time to time, it can be absolutely nerve-wracking. Well done

While I'm sure it'll be a great value for the all-cash buyer, will be interesting to see how much lease support Hyundai will give to the GV80. The G80 has horrendous residuals and I imagine without lease incentives from the OEM this vehicle might not be as competitive from a payments perspective vs. the Germans

How is Hyundai/Genesis able to load their vehicles with so much luxury and tech items AND still undercut their rivals? Interesting in seeing Kias version of this platform as well. As a bonus, we got to see Safoyan/Redline Reviews make a cameo appearance outside the right quarter glass at about 5: 33.

Hyundai is hitting out of the park with this Genesis GV80. Impressed with the quality. A German competitor, in a segment Acura or Lexus is yet to step in. a RWD based unibody crossover. Very RWD overhangs, very Alfa Romeo/Masarati SUV spirit like with some Bentley styling cues.

Genesis nailed the interior, but the grill is enormous even by modern standards. Also the rear side profile is awkwardly bulky to accommodate the 3rd row, like the Lexus RX 350L. I'm sure performance and value will impress

The diesel is, in fact, an inline 6-cylinder; as far as I'm aware, this is the first inline 6-cylinder of any kind from Hyundai, though I don't know why they didn't make an inline 6-cylinder gas engine, as well.

A nice looking sport suv with plenty of features except the most glaring and fundamental. AWD. Car would be worthless in winter in the US which only happens in half of the US market. At least give us the option
