Sofyan Bey from Redline Reviews and I take a deep dive into Honda's newest hybrid crossover and talk about how it compares with the benchmark, the RAV4 Hybrid. Amram: having driven the CRV before ordering the RAV4 i personally found the RAV4 more responsive especially when overtaking. when pressing the accelerator when you go out to overtake another car the RAV 4 definitely feels like its moving. also my impression and my wife's was that at highway speed the RAV4 had less highway noise. i'm in the UK and the models are slightly different but took my RAV4 to Scotland in the middle of a storm and the 4x4 reacted very reassuringly. for some reason you guys mention if the battery is still charged as if it's possible to be without 4 wheel drive in the RAV4 i never encountered a situation where the engine didn't keep the battery charged the worse it got was slightly less then 1/2 charged going uphill in the storm and snow

Interesting that Alex says the hybrid will be more reliable than the non-hybrid because of the lack of a transmission. Interesting. But it still seems the hybrid is more complex overall. Any comments on this if reliability is important. I would prefer the safer high end passing speed of the Rav4 on merging and passing over the better AWD of the Rav4. That's just a personal opinion having previously owned a hybrid that was horrific at high end speeds. Also like the interior looks of the Rav4 better and exterior. The only negative of the Toyota seems the seat comfort but I imagine one could buy a seat cover. Will wait for the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe though because with a 2. 5 L turbo and more space, that SUV would seem preferable over both of these.

Great comparison ya guys. 2 weeks ago, we had to decide between the two and we selected the Rav4 limited. Reasons were more advance high tech features, overall styling, comfort, and mileage. We liked the CR-V hybrid, but we've owned Honda vans (2001 and 2010) in our past and it felt like driving our 2010 Honda Odyssey with just a hybrid motor in it. Honda is known for their inside cabin spacing, but we didn't need too much spacing as our kids are in college now and driving on their own soon. Honda followed the same Honda Platform for that feel when sitting in the Honda. We loved the overall package that came with the CR-V hybrid and pricing, but the Rav4 impressed us more with a slight feel of luxury when sitting in it or driving.

Toyotas hybrid system has been refined multiple times over the years(Prius to RAV4. Toyota is the undisputed king, when it comes to hybrid know how. Honda on the other hand, has been redesigning their hybrid system multiple times over the years just to get close(never equal) to Toyotas mpg efficiency. As you can see, the RAV4 has more HP, can accelerate to 60mph a second quicker and its 3mpg more fuel efficient than the CR-V. But then again, itll take about 58 years to pay for the 5K difference in price. The 2020 Ford Escape hybrid is similar in hybrid design with Toyota(a good thing. Ford Escape is actually more efficient than the RAV4 and again much cheaper.

I believe the Toyota Softex is far superior to leather. I currently have a 2012 Prius V with Softex and it looks as good as the day I bought the car and I live in a climate were the temperatures vary from -20c and +35c every year. No colour fading, no surface cracking or peeling, very durable and is virtually maintenance free. Just wipe the seat surfaces down with a damp cloth. It really should be an option all all cars. Try getting those results with the cheap leather they are putting in cars today. Will never buy a car with leather seats again.

I personally prefer the RAV4 hybrid: because the exterior look, interior look, optional heated rear seats, optional panoramic sunroof, and much more(these are not available on the CRV. The RAV4 has an advantage you do not lose any cargo room because the hybrid battery pack is under the seat. Also RAV4 is better because you can CHOOSE FROM 10 TRIM LEVELS(4 hybrid trim levels LE-Limited) Lastly Toyota has the better mpg and will outlast Honda by many years

It's good to have someone to be disagree with Alex when he talks. means that there's 2 different opinions talking about same cars which is great. But please be specific and talk scientificly. When is say crv have the larger cargo area so measure it for us exactly. The length and the height or even someone can sleep in it to see the difference you can easily make this video's nicer and more helpful.

The fake leather seats in the RAV4 are almost a deal breaker for me. Theres no way that a 42k should have fake leather seats. The CRV costs 5k less than the RAV4. The CRV doesnt have ventilated seats. If the RAV4 runs out of electric power it becomes a front wheel drive vehicle. The RAV4 gets better gas mileage. Dont like the fake wood in the CRV.

Sofyan says you dont pay sticker for the RAV4? Hes right. Up here in Canada you pretty much have to pay over sticker to get your hands on a Hybrid. Disappointed with the no towing with the CRV. Ive used my 2012 CRV to tow a little utility trailer quite a bit for around the house projects and would miss this ability with the new hybrid.

I found the Rav4 noisy. and the ICE engine even more so. Also, as someone commented below. the Darn Gas Tank issue. you can not fill it full of gas. And Toyota still sells the Rav4, even with this know default. which they do not have a clue how to solve. And the dealers are not advising the customer of this issue, in my area.
