JuiceBox EVSE Install & JuiceNet First Look

It's time for a new EVSE (aka EV charger, although it's not really a charger) tjs114: I've always thought the JuiceBox units were overrated considering how many people have had them fail. The ClipperCreek units seem to be pretty solid performing and without the extraneous wifi stuff. So, when are we going to see an update on the Nexo? Or is it sitting forlornly somewhere because you can't get it to a fueling station that works or is open? Still not a station within 60 miles out here in the Central Valley.

I love the features that Juicebox has. I have the same black box one that you have and the relay/contractor melted down in less than 2 years of ownership. I am in the process of getting it swapped out now. My old Aerovironment 32amp EVSE is 7 years old and has never given me any troubles. I hope this new style that you are testing is more robust than previous versions.

I also had a second gen Juice Box 40 Pro, and it too suffered an internal failure after just 2 years. It was replaced with the third generation that immediately preceded your review unit. This was right when they changed their name to Enelx, so all my paperwork says Enelx, but the EVSE is still branded eMotorWerks.

I don't know man, you really should _not_ be encouraging people to extend the cord beyond the max standard 25 foot cable lengths. Especially since you don't have a big disclaimer about doing it. It really isn't normal practice since nearly all new Level 2 home installs are done by professional electricians.

Does the app show the amount of power delivered to the car or the amount accepted by the battery? I would like to be able to see the charging efficiency and the cost of the electricity used to charge the car. The Charge Point charger at work tells me how much the battery accepted.

Maybe mention pros/cons of buying a smart EVSE if the car can also be setup in a 'smart' fashion? For example the Bolt EV can be setup to charge at off peak rates, etc. A large 'pro' for a dumb EVSE is they can be a lot cheaper.

Its kinda unfortunate that the EVSE cant communicate with the vehicle. I hope that a standard for that develops because it would definitely be advantageous for that to happen

The app is terrible. It stopped displaying the transaction times so I cant tell how long Im charging for each day and their support claims the issue is my iPhone XS.
