ok, this is a direct competitor to the 8 series, even tho the us only got m850i. it is not quite a competitor with the gt, that gt is more like an e53 coupe competitor. however, it is a step down competitor to the wraith and continental. its just like a kia k900 or acura rlx or genesis g90 with bmw 7, benz s and audi a8. I dont understand why people say the 8 series is a competitor to the e coupe, it clearly is not. both s coupe and the 8 are their flagship models, as well as the similar dimensions. also, if we recall the old 6 coupe bmw discontinued, that thing basically turned into the 8 (similar dimension, and that one was really close to the s couple, (not pricing wise tho lol) but think like the s couple is like a kia k900, and continental/wraith are like the 7 series/a8.

Pretty sure the V12 in the S65 has 738 lb ft of peak torque (not 783. Its the same engine thats in my 15 S65 and thats the torque figure I remember. you musta transposed the 3 & 8. Also, Im not sure about the 7 speed rationale you gave - I honestly think they just didnt want to spend the development costs to mate it to a 9 speed as they know the V12 is being discontinued. Yah, the S63 is faster but guess what. you pull up to one at a stoplight in your S65 and you know the S63 driver is thinking Damn, he got the V12. Thats boss.

A0A Why do you rely on autofocus for these static shots where you have high depth of field anyway? Just use manual focus, takes 1-3 seconds to set manual focus at the start of the scene and then you do not have to touch it unless you change the setup or shoot a different segment. No autofocus hunting during a scene will definitely give your videos a more professional look.

Its heartwarming that cars like this are still available. I agree, if you were going down this path, the cabriolet makes more sense in the bling department with not much decrease in functionality. If the trunk space isnt enough, theres always the rear seat area for more stowage given people who buy this car are obviously not intending to carry 4 passengers on a long trip.

I feel like if i had an older sibling and we were rich, also if they were mean to me, I have a feeling theyd let their freinds be in this car all the time and shove me in the back and being a teen driver theyd suck at driving so I would probably get nauseous and Id ask them to open my back window and they would most likely say no. bad design Mercedes, bad design.

I have owned Mercedes Benz sedans and coupes since the 1980s. All new Mercedes Benz vehicles are garbage. Too much aluminum in the engine and body that is not durable. They have too many expensive computers that fail, requiring replacement. Mercedes are now poorly engineered vehicles. If you value saving money, stay away from them.

Wow what would I buy if I won the lottery or became Mr RightPortfolio? Heading to my local German dealers Id be really tempted by the 850 I like the looks better, but I think I would get an i8 even though its a different thing. Any car in this price range Id be afraid to drive daily so a mainstream small SUV too please, lol

The 8-series competitor from Mercedes is the E-class coupe, its much more similar in every way. Just because BMW gave their model the number 8 that doesnt change anything about the car, its nothing but a 5-series coupe with limited rear seat space and nowhere near as luxurious as a S class.

Rather have the Lexus LC500 V8 instead. Better quality, cheaper (better value, better looks inside and out design wise. Even the Lexus engine sounds better and the lexus will feel exclusive because no other Lexus has its interior where this S560 all the BENZ interior it looks the same

Great review, Alex. What happened to the back seat? I can remember shopping the old CL in 1999 and in 2009 and was impressed that no other coupe had a real back seat and could comfortably cruise with 4 aboard. Too bad they devolved into a 2+2 like the Lexus, BMW, Maserati, Bentley, etc.
