Its here The Standard Range Model 3 Arrived Well, OK, so its a Standard Range Plus with a 35, 000 price tag. Im actually oddly fine with that twist to this story. In this two-part video well explore the Model 3 and compare it to a few EVs and other luxury cars Lets dive in

I am not sure how it was declared that a Tesla Model 3 is a luxury car. This is a lie - it is just a car that is expensive - it is no different than a Fusion or a Camry. A high price tag does not make it a luxury vehicle otherwise a similarly priced Ford Fusion would be a luxury car. This is just a low rent version of an electric car that is being falsely classified as a luxury vehicle. I will not cease in pushing back on the false notion that this is being pushed as the best selling luxury car when it is nothing more than a Fusion, Camry, or Accord competitor. It is clearly not in the same class as a Mercedes or a BMW. Whoever has classified this in the luxury segment is being dishonest. Being an electric car does not give it special treatment (despite what its owners might think. In all honesty, this should be compared to compact cars like the Civic because this is what it really is competing against but is overpriced due solely to its electric technology (which should not automatically make it premium in any discussion. I voted this video down because it is falsely claiming luxury and passing on the big lie that others are using. Trunk space is. 2 cubic feature larger than my Hyundai Elantra - unimpressive on a car double the price of my Elantra. This car has no spare tire? That is some luxury that pretentious Tesla testers must appreciate. Deduct points for no spare and force Tesla to put it in the false trunk in the front - this is lazy engineering. Vegan leather - it is vinyl - deal with it pretentious Tesla owners and Teslas. Lack of rear seat room is inexcusable - more points deducted and definitely makes this a non-luxury vehicle. So is this a plus or an ordinary vehicle? No wonder Tesla loses money (and it does) with inconsistent equipped cars that they take away features later with software updates - another area to remove points from this ever being classified as a luxury vehicle. In closing, if this is a luxury vehicle, then so is a Kia Niro electric - same range without the snob appeal that obviously adds to the sticker price and aura of luxury. (sarcasm)

Overall I really like the clean esthetic of the interior with very minimal hard controls. For example, once I set the side mirrors and steering wheel position I hardly ever want to move them. And when I do, I dont find it a burden to get the contextual controls into that mode, especially since one shouldnt be driving when making such adjustments anyway. Memory recall and easy exit are also available for people that want it. However, I do have things I wish the vehicle included when it comes to hard controls, better soft controls, and instrumentation: 1. More hard wiper controls on the stalk. I hate that I have to use the touchscreen to change the wiper speed or take them in/out of automatic mode. This is horrible when driving, especially in inclement weather I also really dont like having to press the stalk button for a single wipe and wash. Id much rather it be a stalk up/down back/forward motion. I really think the steering column needs an additional stalk dedicated to wiper functions. This is a high importance saftey issue in my mind. 2. Easier fog lamp control. It doesnt have to be a physical control, although something on the lighting (highbeam, turn signal) stalk might be nice. If they just moved the fog lamp soft icon to the main screen for driving I might actually use the fogs when appropriate. Right now I never do because its not safe to turn them on while driving and I dont like leaving them on all the time. 3. The car really could benefit from a head-up display showing things like speedometer, turn signal, next turn navigation instructions, audio system selections, etc. The interior would stay clean and one wouldnt need to look over at the touchscreen for even the most basic instrumentation. I get that Tesla might have been thinking the car would ultimately be autonomously driven, but it is very much a drivers car in so many compelling ways. This is sadly severely diminished when having to look at a center mount screen for everything.

Tesla does the EV components of this car just so well, but completely stuffs up the regular car things. Th on screen controls I agree have gone to crazy extreme levels. You could have a row of physical buttons and and a couple of knobs below the screen that were software controled. Eg, their function could be set by the driver, and the function displayed on the screen above the button. One of the knobs could be volume etc. Its so simple. Really, adjust wiper speed on the screen? Agree with the vent controls, a simple knob on the door would have done the job better. Car still needs a regular proximity remote key and unlock sensor on the door handle. That bluetooth phone thing is should not be mandatory. The optional remote is a hack because they didnt expect the feedback. Crazy why it wasnt a hatch back. I mean, thats basically what the model Y is (with a increased ride height. The Y is not an SUV or CUV, its back is just not square enough to pit proper cargo. Perhaps a model 3 wagon would have been better. I see the Model Y as a X4 or X6 type car. The obviously had to hack out this Standard Car too. Leaving in the speakers, leather, wood etc means that cant even work out how to adjust production lines to save them putting useless items in the car. Unless you can later pay to upgrade to those speakers, its just crazy. They could save money on the glass roof if they could work out how to remove it And this might be a shock, but some of use actually prefer cloth seats No wonder they are not actually keen on selling the 35k car, they are basically giving you the 40k car for free. Teslas brilliance is the EV related software, and the Supercharger Network. If they could only improve the regular car basics they would be much better served. Also changing the business model and pricing every 4 days is concerning to me.

nice car and more affordable for standard people and in 10 years you can save more than 12000 euros using it. and still good enogh range for daily driving. hope tesla wont die before i can buy one and that will be a litle later. MAYBE THEY WILL PUT INSIDE THEIR CAR A REPLACE WHEEL. PLS. OHMG ITS PATHETIC. all cars must have it. VERY Nice video. car still needs a litle beter quality control and that replace wheel also dont forget autopilot its very nice hopefully i it will be good enogh in the future for all people not only for richy ones. i will keep waiting few years until they put that replace wheel and autopilot inside for 35000 euros then it will the time to definitevely buy it before any other gasoline car. at least people wil be able to breath cleaner way and move in a more efficient way on the loong run. becase a tesla moving you around all month for around 1 euro compared with gasoline car that needs aroun 100 euros to do the same. meh mobility expense are to much cheap in tesla compared with all other cars but huge price really cant make it beter than a gasoline car. however an electric car around 20000 whitout autopilot and with some nice standard equipment would be a litle nicer. the feeling of standard cars design put it inside an electric car that can move you around for 2 euros every month that could be avesome. and costing around 20000 euros that will be the end of oil cars. becase electric is much more efficient and manages resources a lots better than classical cars who sucks at efficiency even on eco modes that are better than nothing but electric still better by far way and much more cleaner.

I think is a great car, finally at a price range that allows normal people to buy a Tesla. but, I have to say, I never like when something that you actually purchase doesnt work just because you need to pay the extra tax to enable it. if the speakers are IN the car, they should work, if the car can go at some speed without changing anything physically (as for safety reason) its should be allowed to go at that speed, Im not buying an NBN service but a car. as said in the video Tesla can add some more extra limitation by software in the next updates, it does mean that in the future if they decided to make an extra 1k they can send you an email saying you own a standard model, you cheap bastard, are you enjoy yours 300miles range? good, give us 1k or we going to change it to 250miles. off course, this is an exaggeration, but a lot o difference between this car and the premium models are just from software and not from the car itself, they can change it from the internet not even from the shop. its something that I find very sad, PERSONALLY. Something that they really need to improve is the assembly of these cars, I went to a showroom and even the car in there were with paint jobs problems, gaps between doors and seals. if you are in the same price range of BMW, WW, and others big names you need to deliver the same quality over all

its the same rear motor across the board, and when you go AWD its the same front motor; they just software limit everything. Battery packs are the same as well, again, software limited. The hardware is all there for semi-autonomous driving & self driving in all Tesla Model 3s; again software limited. The only real hardware differences are between RWD and AWD models, mainly an additional motor, the rest of it is software. Should have a metal roof option; no glass means the car would lose weight, gain rigidity, increase range and performance & lower the center of gravity further. Also needs more manual controls in the interior for basic stuff so you arent in the dash-tablet all the time to do basic things, like you know, open the glove box. All of that stated, Im happy to see a new American auto manufacturer break into the scene and do things differently, yes, some were done for the sake of being different, but many were done to modernize the automobile. Hopefully the next iteration will be more in line with what Im looking for, or, other manufacturers will catch up as far as technology is concerned.

Its obvious you are not Tesla tech savvy lets say the bit about the air vents if you wanted to turn the vents off on the other side of the car and you are driving down the road. So, you say you would you reach all the way over there to adjust them but rather not just use your finger to do it from right where you sit why you are a geniuse. Non-Tesla people should never do videos about Teslas you just dont get it. This is the best 50, 000 dollar car you can get for 35, 000 dollars. Do you actually see what car you are trying to compare the 35, 000 dollar Tesla with are 68-70, 000 dollar cars that dont even have features close to what a nonluxury Tesla has standard? Back to you not being tech savvy reason the speakers and probably many other things you dont know about Tesla are there so can always upgrade by wifi to new features on the base model. Things you cannot do with any of the other cars you are comparing this Tesla to, I mean you can even upgrade the wheels to alloy wheels if you dont like the aero wheel covers WAKE UP you sound like your jealous you dont have a Tesla.

This was a great video. The only thing he/you didnt nail was the utility of the phone holder. It looked like your cord was just floating around untethered. The car comes with a lightning and USB cable with a special 90 angle. The tip locks into place so once fitted correctly, your phone slips right down onto the tip and charges your phone very quickly because of the dc to dc power. Wireless charging mats are fine if you drive cautiously. Driving an EV is a blast, even the base model has a good amount of get up and go. Its easy to slosh your phone around and misalign the chi wireless charging. Some charging pads may be better than others, but some pads use up one of the USB slots. That USB slot is essential for your dash cam and Sentry mode which as I understand is included on the base model, so is dog mode. People freak out about the doors or button functions or light placement. You could have doubled the length of this video with even more great insights. This was more than enough for most people though. Im glad you made such a nice video. Thank you.

You mentioned feeling that the electrically actuated dash vents are silly. I had the same initial impression, but there are a few reasons why I really appreciate them: 1. I hardly ever adjust the vents once properly set, so not having the manual louver controls showing is a cleaner esthetic and there is less chance someone will accidentally move them. 2. When I do adjust the vents I like having a more precise reference so I can note what position works best and return to it - The on sceen sliders help with that. 3. If a previous passenger adjusted a vent its a lot easier to adjust it back as a driver using the display than leaning and reaching over to the far passenger side vent. 4. The car can offer additional automated featues to enhance the climate control, such as directing more air to the side windows when intensive defrosting is needed. I now wish more cars offered this feature

I owned a LR M3 for over 6 months now, it is a joy to drive and thats why I got it. It felt like the future when I test drove it against a BMW and a Lexus and was way cheaper than a Porsche. Close to 10K miles and no issues. Yes, there are certain shortcomings (wireless charging is a must add) but all forgotten when driving. I can see how it may not feel that way with limitations of a standard model where the selling points are efficiency and simplicity. I recommend test driving a M3 to all my friends before deciding on a car. Also, in a traffic jam, M3 is awesome. It is quick to move with the stop and go traffic with an autopilot on unlike an ICE car that generally takes a couple seconds to get moving. In Chicago, I just set it and relax during a 40 min. 10 mile ride without jackasses cutting in front of me every 3 min.
