Ford's Explorer Hybrid is a bit of a different animal than the benchmark hybrid in this segment: the Highlander Hybrid. Rather than trying to be the most efficient entry in the segment, Ford decided the fuel-sipping Explorer needed to tow like the rest of the Explorer lineup, unfortunately that seems to run counter to the fuel savings that most hybrid shoppers seem to be looking for.
roletnabih: Ford really messed this up compared to the Escape Hybrid that is selling really well. This hybrid setup doesn't provide any major benefits to fuel economy. Its slower and heavier makes no sense. This will not sell. This will be dropped in 2-3 years from lineup. Date: 2020-09-17
