How old are you when the 986 Boxster came out? Terrible review of the earlier 986 in the looks of the car and performance. I see why there is so many thumbs down in this review. As far as the interior, it was not a bad interior by any stretch. Have you ever seen how simple prior generations are, even a 993 carrera. 986/996 is a progression in interior looks from the prior generations. Simple and all about the driving. Now the interiorsnare too luxurious but that's what non-traditional Porsche owners want. Performance assessment of the 986 S was poor as well. Even by today standards the Boxster is very cable with the right driver, not driver aids that make an average driver better with these newer cars. This is not about opinion but fact.

PFFT! Original boxster has aged? Yeah - aged like a fine wine. Both the Boxster and the 996 look better today than they did on release: the extremely clean, unsullied lines make these timeless classics, with major appeal.
If anything, the current car has lost its original simplicity and style, and now looks too muscular, and overbearing, with too many design details - for details sake.
Give me an honest 2. 5 S1 Boxster for fantastic fun, at a super low price. Unbeatable value, style, and smiles

The 911 and the Boxster always shared many components. You could even call it the 911 guinea pig. They test things in the Boxster and if it works the next 911 will get it as well. Due to that your uncle might have had the same problems with a 911. Next the Boxster is a Roadster and thus not really meant to be raced. It does perform decent on track, but there-re better ones out there. The Boxster was build for mountain roads and cruising and that it can. The rest is opinion. To each their own. :)

Finally! That is an argumet! Took you lang enough. I-ve read it and I do believe you. Well minus the part about it-s looks as that is subjective. We could argue about women as well when we talk about looks. Anyways, it is true that the 986 had some problems when it first came out. Porsche needed money so they compromised some things. Most of these problems had been solved with the first face lift, although some remained. Those were also present in the 996 though. I need a second part too sorry

The Boxster is an excellent car - the motoring journos consistently cite it as one of best sports cars out there. If you're looking for a quick, well-balanced droptop the Boxster is the only one to buy IMO. Which is why I have one and love it. Not a quite as quick off the mark as my old Kawasaki 750 but very few cars are.
Buying the base 911 cab makes no sense - the performance advantage is nil or negligible and the Boxster's mid-engine makes a better shape for a cabriolet.

Part 2:
has many years experience working for race teams, and has worked for a special company in Switzerland that specialises in renovating old Porsches! And he agrees with me that the Boxster is a terrible car! Also, the Boxster looks horrible - that is as rock solid a fact as you are ever going to get.
I hope this helps, and I believe you about your cars - if you want I can send pictures to you too if you do not believe me about any of my stuff!

You know I actually enjoyed the later parts of this discussion. It is nice to know that there are still some guys out there who have real knowledge about cars! I-m sick of these kids who play NFS and think they know it all. Even if our opinion differs, which is fundamental for a good discussion, I liked talking to you. Good luck on your future projects!

I'd love a Boxster, you can get a 987 Boxster 2. 7 with 51, 000 miles for 10, 000, but I would like a Boxster S more tho, mind you the 2, 7 isn't really slow 6. 2 seconds & 160 mph that nearly a fast the 986 Boxster S & it's got a better interior

Loved this review. Perfectly accurate and fair. Love my 2004 986 and she's spot on about how it's still a charm to drive but shame about the interior quality! Don't listen to all the negative comments here, great review!
