Nissan Skyline R34 vs Nissan GT-R track battle
video description
R34 Skyline GT-R is 2-door sedan / coupe of Skyline while R35 has been separated from skyline and become proper sportcar.
And for R34 fans, I know you guys are asking Z-tune rather standart or R34 Nur to be fair. But trust me R35 fans may ask for R35 GTR Nismo to make it fair (both are Nismo though. Besides it's near impossible to find those 20 R34 Z-tune owner to lend it to be tested and tracked for comparison since most of them maybe are accountants or investor rather petrolhead (I hope I'm wrong though)
What I wonder, how fast it will be compare to another coupe such as BMW M4. Especially knowing that Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 Z-Tune and BMW M4 GTS since their power / torque figure and price is really similar each other. Both of them even use inline-6 twin-turbo (though R34 Z-tune only 2. 8 while M4 GTS is 3. 0) despite its 10 years difference

Tests like these prove relatively little. A short twisty circuit which, to be honest, doesn't really suit either car and the older car was undertuned from the factory running restricted boost etc. The stock R34 GTR is blank canvas for a monster of a machine and some of the comments comparing its performance to previously run hot hatches is just silly. Sure, the newer car is (and should be) quicker but with a 250hp advantage it has to be. Make no mistake, Nissan built these cars to be faster than anything else out there and they succeeded. The R35 is and the R34 still punches well above it's weight.

i dont care wich one wins still like the skyline r34 gtr better, stop calling the new gtr godzilla and skyline is nkt badge as skyline and was never called godzilla, only r32 and r33 and r34 with a rb26dett were called godzilla, nickname given in australia to the r32 in 1989 by wheels magazine not because they were fast from the factory shit even supras and mitsubishis 3000gt vr4(gto) in japan were faster but because they could hold pretty much anything you throw in them and once modified they were a beast.

Bearing in mind the huge power difference, I'm not particularly impressed. Yes, just under 10% is a fair difference but once you take into account the power, faster gearchange etc. in the R35, it's rather underwhelming.
Both cars are fantastic but it shows what Nissan had already achieved with the R34 that 16 years and a lot of technology haven't make as much difference as you might expect.

I like the Skyline but most of the Skyline owners I've raced tend to think they are bike killers as standard. It was quite funny doing a 130mph wheelie past my friends R34 GTR which is a very very special and nice car, but even though his is 530 bhp he said it still lost to some random guys R35 GTR. Expensive to maintain though that's one thing my friend said.

So he asks, where along the track will the new version be faster, but never answers the question. It is obviously more powerful and must be faster on the straights, but how does it look in the corners compared to the R34?

I bought a mint low miles stock R34 a couple of weeks back.
The money I paid for it could've bought me an R35 and a new kitchen. I see the value of nice R34's only going up though.

if they would both be manuals, the times wouldn't be any different. But since the new one is an Auto its defiantly going to be quicker. so much time lost shifting in the old one.

Took some digging, but this is the video I was looking for. A straight up, no frills, unbiased, unmodded performance comparison. Thanks, and great work.

Was it actually the refinement that made the r35 GTR faster on the track or just more power? Cause i believe this video implies it was refinement.
