2021 DS 9 review: more luxurious than an E-Class? - Auto Express

Can the brand-new, 2021 DS 9 topple the executive saloon big guns - the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class - to take top spot in the class? DS, the spin-off brand of Citroen, certainly hopes so. The DS 9 is a large, stylish, luxury saloon that evokes the spirit of French icons such as the Citroen C6, Renault Vel Satis and the original Citroen DS, in its focus on comfort and opulence over outright sportiness. But how does this translate to the road, and what's that quirky interior like in the real world? Join Steve Fowler at the wheel to find out in this in-depth review

Can't believe the reviewer didn't like the ride in a S-class. The design is the only plus point of this car, you would only buy it for the novelty factor. Nowhere near the germans in terms of quality or use. the rattling noise is by far one of the worst i've heard in any car. You shouldn't even ask -if this is the best car in its class-. it's an insult to other car manufacturers from a relatively new car.

Oh, dear, the poor guy doesn't know how to adjust the mirror or to operate the windows. To be fair, I also don't think I remember how to adjust my mirrors, because I've adjust them once and they've been good every since.
Oh, and, I think you'll get used to the windows control after 2-3 days, unless your problem lies somewhere else: )

Large, luxurious French cars have never sold in big numbers, and this will be no different. The French excel at the other end of the market, so that's probably where they should focus their efforts. They're never going to tempt people out of their -prestige- German cars, so why waste valuable resources trying?

Great review. Thanks for that. For me it's a bit 'trying to hard. ' It doesn't have the grace or understatement of the C6. Interesting car though. Would love to try one. Easier to say you're not keen when watching a review but it's different when it's parked outside your house, and you drive it. -

I'd love to see Tim Key sit in for Steve Fowler on one of these reviews!
It's great that Citroen are focusing on comfort rather than competing on handling, but ergonomic quirks and wheezy engines aren't ideal! Get one when it's about 4 years old and it'll be a steal.

Won't sell here or probably Germany, partly because it's French but most likely because it's ugly. What is it with French design, they seem to struggle getting the basics right and dare I say I actually think the new 4 series frontend looks superior to this.

Is my hearing deceiving me?
At about 6mins 40 secs did he say 'driving along these Oxfordshire Lanes' whilst driving on the right hand side of the road entering a right hand bend? I know the car is left hand drive, but am I missing something? ps Like the car!

Nice video, Steve, good to see the Boss keeping his hand in with reviews. Clear, concise, informative, good, mellow voice and authoritative presentation. Enjoyed. Fun car to choose. Good second hand choice though, not new. Hope it is reliable though.

The French should stick to handbags, shoes & cooking. This is just another ugly, over-stylised loss making model made of cottage cheese. Worthless in 3 years as the DS brand has zero credibility and even less kudos. I won't start on reliability.

The front design is so tacky and weird. Wish they manage to come up with a better design language for their cars. Even a Genesis has sort of managed to do that within just a few years. DS brand still feels like a hobby project from PSA
