NEW Honda HR-V hybrid review: how good is Honda\'s electrified SUV? - Auto Express Mark: Some harsh comments for the review and the car. Neither are that bad. I speak as a Honda fan with a civic but with the passing years feel the need to progress to something like this. I want refinement on the motorway with the power to overtake with ease on A roads but take onboard the point about 20mph zones in our cities. We want it all. When Honda did get around to offering a decent power output in the previous model they make the mistake of tarting it up like a pig-s breakfast with a price tag to match. Good effort but not quite there.

The truth is that you can not buy a car with better powerline than HR-V hybrid any cheaper. You can buy 1. 0 turbo engine or similar with automatic gearbox. It is always worser. You might get a little bit powerful turbo engine also with the same price, but there is a gearbox and there is missing instant and smooth reply for the gas pedal. Also consumption will arise. You can live in the past if you want. Electric vehicle is an answer, but there are availability problem, range problem, charging problem and pricing problem.

For goodness sake. Do your homework, it does not have a CVT transmission. It does not have a geared tranamission in the true sense of the word. An electric motor drives the wheels most of the time. There is a lock clutch that can connect the engines if needed to the road wheels. In normal conditions you vary the drive to the road by adjusting the speed of the electric motor. The motor is powered by the battery or from an engine driven generator. the so called 2nd motor.

This review is like the Honda - good in parts with some significant issues. First of all, it DOESN'T have a CVT gearbox. In fact, it doesn't have a gearbox at all. Secondly, although boot space is disappointing, there was no mention of the -magic seats- which go some way to make up for this.

Try and test drive it first and stop listening to all these subjective reviews
The car is a delight to drive and although it is a bit noisy accelerating, it soon becomes a lovely car to drive once up to speed,
Try one first before believing the nonsense written about it.

People like to say ohhh is new design but interior is just narrow common ordinary performance. there-s $$$ difference. want tons of feature go Audi Lexus suv. no budget get this. even vans. don-t say noise. don-t say power. this price serve its purpose that-s all

So take out all the petrol gubbins and this is quite an accomplished car. I wish Honda would commit to electric. Put a proper battery pack in this and it would be great. I love the styling and interior, but as it is, it-s bit of a turd.

The thing is, no car brand can bring out a Car that doesn-t look like most of the others, so, is it what-s underneath the body that really matters, the interior is generic, set out for most drivers, yep, there-s nothing wow about it.

Why do reviewers push for rotary controls rather than touch screens? I have no problem with the touch screen and it has a cleaner finish, no protrusions. BTW, it's only approved, by government regulation, for four passengers.

45 miles per gallon? My rav 4 with 2, 5 engine makes 40 miles per gallon, which is comparing to Hrv is great! So rav 4 is more fuel efficient, though it has stronger engine and is heavier
