Great funky video. As a HVAC tech, I would never trust vacuum for a leak test. Obviously it will show a big leak, but this system didn't come in empty, so like you, I would run with it. Had it been empty, I would have put a vapor charge or nitrogen in and found/fixed the leaks and do another recovery. Some leaks will require expensive and difficult parts replacement. It sucks to replace one leaky component, only to find another after you did all that work. Open systems can be very troublesome and many will not work on them. I would like to mention, many recovery systems or cheap air powered vacuum pumps will not reach a level of vacuum to boil the moisture out, which is the biggest killer of AC systems. A two stage vacuum pump will do the trick. A cool thing to show this is to seal a jar with water in it and a valve in the cap to hook to the pump and you will see water boil in your hand at room temp. It is a good learning experience. Sorry for the long blow, but maybe someone will find it useful.

I had an 06 Tiburon last year, ac didn't work. Compressor was bad. Got a new one from O'Reilly. Put it on, had the only local shop i trust recover and recharge it as i do my own work but i don't have a machine. it leaked out in two days. Took it back they recharged it again for no cost the second time. leaked in 3 days. Found the front compressor seal was bad. Put another new one on and it was good. Cost me recover and recharge twice, but the refrigerant and machine and labor isnt free. Im considering buying a smaller ac machine for my garage.

Thanks for addressing the o-rings issue. I did three compressors for friends last summer and I automatically replaced every o-ring in the system (and the orifice tubs, expansion valves, condensors, and evaporator driers) because that's what the book said to do. I take it that's overkill I like to do a job right, but I don't want to do any work that isn't going to make a difference. Any pro opinions on this would be much appreciated.

Start taking a daily dose of Emergan-C or generic high dose Vitamin C. I was a road warrior for years and it kept the germies at bay. I worked in hospitals mainly and was never sick. Just remember to up your water intake.

I saw a European shop doing this and they said they always add fluorescent, just in case the will be a leak in the future, you can easily see where it leaks with a UV light and special glasses.

Good job, I was surprised that for warranty purpose that they didn't tell you to change the orifice filter. One I have is I always forget. Is the suction side the big tube or small one.

Eric why didn't you change the Schrader Valves as a common practice Normally the small ring rubbers are worn and its good practice and cheap and your job will last longer.

Funny how the EPA still regulates R134A. It's the same thing they put in canned air that is used to clean dust of stuff. R12 was the nasty refrigerant but it's super rare now.

Has anyone shipped/towed their car to your shop for repairs from out of state I'm sure you decline them but I bet some people have tried too.

Salt facial sounds nice. WE were at the zoo a few weeks back and my wife and I got the classic, monkey slingin' poo facial. Good times.
