A while back ETCG did a video on some of things we find in customers cars. guns, feminine hygiene products, dead animals, sex toys, cash, etc. Well it is a big list for sure of what can be found but I think the rodent feces and urine takes the gold medal when it comes to odor. The odor that was being emitted from this car was toxic. The only complaint by the customer was a noise when the blower was turned on

I once had the opportunity to service a customer's Chevette, which was filled to the headrests with decaying trash in the back seat. Could not see out the rear window, on account of the crap. The odor would have gagged a maggot, after being parked for a few hours in the summer sun. I opened the door, took a whiff, and refused to service the car. My boss, on investigating the situation, agreed with me.
Some cars are toxic, and no reasonable Tech need undergo user-made toxic conditions. Your call, but there are some things, like excessive trash, and incredible stench, that have caused me to refuse service on account of likely health issues. I shouldn't require a mask and gloves to investigate a problem, let alone solve it. YMMV.

I remember buying a car at auction, it was in great shape but it had a smell in the carpet that was horrendous, i'm sure no one bought it for that reason. After buying it and spending several days cleaning it, I couldn't make a dent in the smell, nothing i did worked. I eventually bought an OZone Generator and it took several treatments, but the smell did eventually get less and less, to the point now where i can't smell it anymore. Either that or i lost my ability to smell from breathing in too much OZone: P

I realize I'm watching this five years late, but you should never breathe in the dust from mice. It's possible to catch hantavirus from mice, and the lethality of hanta makes corona look mild. Very bad virus. Best thing is to spray the area with a mild bleach solution before starting work, and wear a dust mask at the very least. I really enjoy your videos and family, and it would be a great loss if you got sick, or worse.

Well im off to take a shower and no NO Mr. O i cant do it! And you should be wearing a respirater or you run the risk of contracting Hantivirous pulminary syndrome from inhaling rodent feces and urine thats been aerosolized, and what better way to get that than through a heater fan. Please inform your customer of this hazard. BLECK!

had a mouse that went into my tim hortons coffee cup and it drowned in my coffee. One chipmunk made nest on the habitacle filter and when i started the car he tried to escape, he got shredded with the serpentine belt and one of his legs was burnt stuck to the heat shield under the hood.

You can get any type of smell out of the interior. including cigarettes. All you have to do is repeated deep clean of anything that has fabric on it, disassemble every single piece of trim and wash it to get rid of the dust crud which is binding smells and put it together. Easy: D

How do they nest in there? Or did she leave the truck sitting for some time? I have never had that happen to me. Worst was a small tree sprout in the door well of my car, I didn't know it was there until a leaf poked out when I got in to drive it one day. (pulled it out, no problem)

One time in the summer this nice lady brought her car in for a Pa inspection. She was a manager at a local burger joint, and she had left some frozen at the time of introduction burger patties on the pass floor. Needless to say, a couple days later It was not so pleasant.

Take 2 cans of foaming coil cleaner and spray out the evap and heater core flush with garden hose. Make sure AC drain is clear first, and don't forget to vacuum under the cowel, and replace the cabin filter. I hate mice, but a huge smell improvement can still be made

I worked on a car that the customer also used as a dog house for his old dog. I had to work inside the vehicle. The dog hair and dander was almost intolerable. Not to mention, the odor. I told him that I couldn't work on it after that.
